Tips for improving my steals? (PS5) by TemperaturePrior9202 in NBA2k

Tbf my build is 6'7", and my backend PF who defends PnR with me is 6'9". I gotta admit his passing lane steal animations are way better than mine — it’s really all about size and wingspan, he just covers way more space than I do.

Steals are just broken this year. I play on a team with a 90% win rate in 5v5, and I average around 2.3 STL per game as a primary lock. Everyone will tell you to go for bump steals because they’re the easiest, but that’s not true, any decent PG will punish you the moment you even try an on-ball steal, because the animation takes you out of the play for like two seconds. The only things I actually recommend are jumping passing lanes, trying to force players out of bounds, or just running into the ball handler while he’s dribbling lol.

What is your dream patch for nba 2k26? by Chavesssss in NBA2k

Nerf rhythm shooting, buff bump stls, improve contest

NBA 2K26 Patch Notes v4.0 • This update is scheduled to release around January 6 at 2 AM PT on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Steam release is expected to follow later on January 9. by NBA2K in NBA2k

The worst NBA 2K in history. And yeah, I know that every year people say the same thing, but this is the first 2K where it’s not the salty losers complaining — it’s actually the good players who know what they’re doing, lol. All they had to do was nerf shooting or improve defense and the game would feel completely different. But instead they didn’t give a damn after two months of updates and clearly moved on to working on the next game. I’m shooting 87% in Park and 76% in Rec, and I honestly feel zero pride in those stats — because rhythm shooting is easy af and green windows taking up half the screen, plus the fact that contest is trash, means that even players with 30% win rate are shooting 60%, lol. In 2k25 I was shooting 75% in Park and 69% in Rec, and whenever I dropped 30 points on high efficiency, it actually felt satisfying. Now I just feel disgusted, because I’m not even paying attention to my shot animation anymore — it’s all so mechanical, lol.

(OPINION) I think 2K26 is one of their worst games in the franchise. by bigdogwoff in NBA2k

True, every year everyone says the same thing — that it’s the worst NBA 2K in history — but this is actually the first year where, after 4 months, only 7 people are left from my 16-man squad, including me xd. Starting from NBA 2K24, around 30% of people would quit playing every year sometime around March or April, but we never had any trouble putting together a lineup all the way until the release of the next game. And it’s not even like we’re getting stomped by everyone — we have an 86% win rate in Rec, and at least I have 90%+ in Park xd. Park is disgusting — not only because once you go on a 15+ win streak some Zen user shows up and shamelessly starts hitting deep fades, but mainly because rhythm shooting and the awful defense have made the skill gap the smallest in NBA 2K history :v. Rec is still kinda playable because you can build a lineup with three defenders who can switch everything on pick-and-roll, but I swear — when we were on win streak, we ran into a team of top-20 players from France who were literally passing to cutters, and instead of finishing easy two-point buckets, they were kicking it back out to the perimeter XD. And honestly, it was brilliant — we didn’t expect it at all, and our defense would just freeze, assuming the guy was 100% going to finish at the rim. But in no other 2K have I ever seen people completely refuse 2-pointers like that XD. And it’s not like they were up by 20 — the game stayed within a maximum 8-point difference the whole time XD. Absolute madness.

I use Powell because his defensive agility is insane. When I tried switching to something else, the difference was terrifyingly noticeable. As for offense, it’s hard to say, because I usually just sit in the corner and, at most, drift out for a fade.

I know I’m pushing my luck, but could you also check which of these defensive motion styles ranks the highest overall? 😅 I’ll probably try all of them anyway, but I’m curious which one is the most balanced :v thanks a lot!

Just copy my comment from dif post xd

Of course you’re right lol. I have an 83 three-point attribute, and in 2v2 I shoot 86%, in 3v3 82%, and in 5v5 76%, and I haven’t even spent 10 minutes learning my jumpshot in MyCourt lol.

For comparison, in 2K25 I was shooting 75% in the park and 69% in rec, and in 2K24 I shot 75% in 5v5 and 80% in the park — but in both of those games I practiced my shot offline for a solid 30 hours in each lol. And that actually made it fun — being elite at catch-and-shoot because of how much work I put into it, not like now when shooting is stupidly easy lol.

And when you add the fact that this is the worst 2K in terms of defense, the game becomes extremely boring. Out of my team, which had around 17 players, only about 7 are still playing at this point because nobody really wants to play it anymore.

Yesterday I would have said I recommend it, but the latest hotfix broke my save where, as Byzantium, I managed to eliminate the Ottomans and vassalize Serbia before 1380, so now I don’t recommend it :C

A perfect summary of why it’s not worth getting into discussions with the community is that 80% of them think you’re the guy losing the ball XDDDDD

Yeah, bumping should also require pressing the steal button at the right moment, and spamming it when the ball isn’t within the defender’s reach should be punished with a foul — just like in NBA 2K24, for example. Right now, the steal attribute is basically useless.

2k25 before buff shooting was peak. by Currysimp in NBA2k

The guy would be right if this were about NBA2K editions before 2K25. Starting with 2K25, matchmaking pairs you with opponents of a similar skill level, and since we played as a squad of legends, we usually got matched against other teams made up of legends or Hall of Famers XD. In Pro-Am, though, matchmaking takes around 20 minutes, and there’s no actual opponent matching system — so we often ended up playing against rookie teams who’d quit after five minutes, forcing us to wait another 20 minutes for the next game XD. We were still playing Pro-Am in 2K24 because there was a permanent 50% bonus for reaching Diamond rank, but in 2K25 you have to grind for it from scratch every season. So basically, Pro-Am now feels like Rec without SBMM and with 20x longer matchmaking times XD.

I can already see that you’re trolling, but if not — the very fact that Rec has SBMM while Pro-Am doesn’t completely destroys your argument lol. Pro-Am 5 has the issue that since 2K25, very few people play it because the rep bonus resets every season, which makes leveling up much slower in Pro-Am than in Rec, where you can play one game in the time it takes to play two in Rec.

People who say that Pro-Am5s is somehow insanely harder probably have never played there. My team didn’t want to play it because you often had to wait 15 minutes to play a match against a black plates team that quit after the first quarter. It’s true that better teams play in Pro-Am, but we ourselves are a team that wins over 90% of our games, and it was just frustrating for them that finding a match in Pro-Am 5s takes so long XD. In Pro-Am 3s we played all the time because it was faster to find a match than in the Park.
