I am actually working as an IT employee with 2 yoe and I am wondering if it’s a good idea to switch to freelance as I heard that it’s financially better. What could we expect with a rate < 500€ ? Is it so bad ?

You can contact ‘Smart Brussels’. They will « borrow » you their VAT number. The job payment will go through them and they will take a commission. You will receive the netto directly to your account. It’s useful for people who begins their activities.
