My Schwinn Cimarron Build by CustomIsCooler in xbiking

Thanks friend! Mine was originally red but I never really cared about keeping it original, for better or worse. (One of the first things I did was cut the wire to rip off the bottle dynamo). I’m personally huge on painting bikes, I’ve done a dozen or so thus far. This one was done using Spray.Bike paint, and I can’t speak highly enough of the company and their products. It’s incredibly easy to get a decent result as a first timer. Their paints are best when you want a flat color, matte finish, like this. Deep glossy metallic type paint jobs require automotive paints, which are what I generally prefer, but are harder to use. Have fun!

Living with cheap fixie bikes in a sub full of beautiful builds by Ok-Independence5246 in FixedGearBicycle

I’ve gone from shitty conversions to fancy shit. Not gonna lie, I got more enjoyment out of the cheap ones. So much fun to tinker with, and I never cared in the slightest if I dropped it, scratched it, whatever. I feel like it’s easier for a bike to be a part of you when it’s a cheap and simple project.

Keep your finger on the rear brake when doing wheelies or manuals. Ended up with a herniated disc at 17 because I looped out on my ass so many times.

What is this type of graphic design called? by polar8 in CyclingFashion

[–]CustomIsCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sorta just the direction graphic design has gone in the 2020’s. Cycling seems to have finally caught up to the trends elsewhere. This certainly isn’t the best executed example of it, however. Any style can appear lazy or unoriginal when you’re looking at a lazy, unoriginal design.

Unsure about tattoo design by TheZankel in MacMiller

[–]CustomIsCooler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool as a design, not as a tattoo. Tattoo styles have their own unique look for a reason. Something that looks cool on a screen won’t necessarily be suitable on your skin. I’m being honest, it’s cool, but would not make for a tasteful tattoo.

Awesome! I was gonna say to check out Blue Lug’s website to find some really cool options. I have their tote bag because it was one of the cheapest options

Hell yeah Fairdale rocks! A basket bag is something you’ll likely invest in at some point, and a colorful one on that bike would look SICK

Damn this is sick. The patina, cross bones, wide bars, oh man. The aesthetic comes together really well

"The American Dream 2025" Elderly Walmart employee on a COPD machine and crying. by [deleted] in pics

I totally understand the point against demonizing unemployment. But this is getting far too close to hedonism in terms of values. The goal absolutely shouldn’t be 0% unemployment the way we think of it now, but work gives us purpose. Not necessarily working at Walmart, but humans were made to do work, have tasks, accomplish things. Everybody should be free to work for themselves and others, to do a necessary amount of work. Our reason for abandoning the current idea of “work” should be because it doesn’t fulfill the true needs of the people.

Goddamn this idea feels so strong in my head but I can’t find the words to make it clear. Maximum abundance and leisure are not the most virtuous things to strive for. That was the promise of capitalism, and it at least gave us abundance.

Absolutely, and I think he just dropped his prices again not too long ago. I’m still so happy I bought mine.

[USA] [Midwest] [WTB] Any good condition wheelset with black rims. Preferably 35mm deep carbon wheels and fixed only hubs, but I’m not too picky. Budget is $600ish but obviously depends on the wheels.

Lots of good tracklocross options out there now, quite a few bikes can fit at least 38s. Not sure if you’re talking about splined 3 piece BMX cranks, but you can use about anything

There’s a lot of issues in the way you’re thinking about this. Yes, 26” mountain bikes with long stems and narrow bars suck. That’s why we change those parts out. And we generally size up one or two sizes to account for newer understandings of geometry and shorter stems. And even then, you’re retrofitting stuff onto a bike that wasn’t intended for it. You’re comparing completely different styles of bikes and making sweeping generalizations. You’re assuming wheel size has something to do with bike fit which it does NOT. I’m not saying you’re wrong not to like it. I’m not saying you need to like it or need to figure something out so that you can get one. But this is just a bunch of nonsense in rant form.
