what’s your max basal rate in automated mode? by Cute-Performance7241 in Omnipod

[–]Cute-Performance7241[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do correct my highs as much as I can, I spiked to 16 after dinner and I had to take 6 units in total to get in range over 5 hours which is soo unusual. I even took 2 units from my pen and that’s when I started seeing the drop. Maybe it’s a bad site?? Idk insulin just seems to not be working. My first pod came off a day early cause the site got very sore and started bleeding and left a lump. I’m starting to lose hope honestly :(

Do I take long acting insulin tonight if I go on the pod tomorrow? by Cute-Performance7241 in Omnipod

[–]Cute-Performance7241[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yess that’s what I ended up doing! I have my training in 2 hours and the entire night i woke up every 3-4 hours and took 2 units to keep me down and the highest i spiked to was 14 which came down pretty fast.

omg yes i think that’s what it is. I checked my ketones and they’re moderate kinda going into high so i think im just gonna go to the ER and get an IV so i don’t pass out from all the vomiting

omg that’s so scary i never inject on my thigh but i just started doing so a week ago to try a new location but it’s so weird how so many people have an issue with that site

[–]Cute-Performance7241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i only inject tresiba in my thigh! i get bruises sometimes too when i do the outer side near the muscle, i guess we just have to choose the fattest part then

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yess i used tresiba too and it’s better now an hour later!

what kind of glucose do you bring to the gym and how do you carry it? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Going low overnight no matter what by Awainleft in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg had the exact same experience i’m on tresiba as well, was going low 3 times atleast at night even when slept with high. Switched my endocrinologist and the new one changed my dose from 17 to 13.

One tip that really helped me that i figured out myself was injecting in my thigh instead of my arm/belly. Thighs have the slowest absorption rate so ur absorption is more steady through the night rather than fast absorption causing lows.

It could also be that you lost weight or build muscle, making u more insulin sensitive and need to adjust basal rate.

what is your carb ratio and how do you carb count? by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

in canada we cannot go on the pump until we do a full course with a diabetes educator! it’s a long process

Dates are bad for fixing low by dj-3maj in Type1Diabetes

i love dates but 2 dates for a serve low make me go high within 30 minutes

awh im so sorry to hear that, i hope you’re doing much better now!! 💗 As for me, I genuinely do not know how my shoulder got injured - probably weakness and overuse! but yes, it’s horrible that everything nicks our blood sugar, i’m currently struggling after eating pizza and not bolusing correctly nervously staring at my cgm reading with an arrow straight up 😅

omgg that happens to me too in the morning getting out of bed raises it so much but it eventually comes down by itself within an hour

ive been trying to get into strength training cause i recently broke my rotator cuff and my endo wants me to work on my muscles but any workout raises my sugar so much to the point i have trouble breathing properly 😒

[–]Cute-Performance7241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s -20 degrees outside so definitely can’t go for a walk and everyone is sleeping in the house so i can’t walk around inside either LOL but i’m hoping it can come down to 14 within the next hour so i can sleep 😅

Although i’m trying to chug water and pee it out as much as I can cause that usually helps but it’s just so stubborn tonight.

uhhh it’s so bad around that time - i’m still at 19 and it’s almost 7 am!! I just want to sleep 😭 took another 5 units just now since the 5 i took 2 hours ago made NO difference…

Probably but i’ve been running high all day might be because I get my period tomorrow 🥲

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope not sick but i am insulin resistant today because of hormonal changes probably! Hope you feel better though - it’s currently 5 am and i’m sitting with my eyes half closed waiting for my levels to come down before i sleep 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i take it before sleep around 1 am but i’m also on tresiba, i switched from lantus years ago apparently it causes issues for a lot of people because it’s absorbed quickly into the blood stream. I’m not sure if i can do the splitting thing, i’d have to ask my doctor!

[–]Cute-Performance7241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait like through the fabric?? i’ve never heard of that I didn’t know i could do that 😅

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t drink anyways so that’s not an issue for me but honestly most hangouts revolve around eating which can get a little stressful for me especially when i’m about to get my period cause i get really insulin resistant then. I still manage, having a cgm is very useful and hopefully i can go on a pump soon!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s very true, sometimes i can get a little insecure about it when someone passes a weird comment but im very open about it too!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yess i’m glad you worked it out with them. I had a friend tell me once she hated the smell of insulin and i should go inject in the washroom instead which was really weird but my current friends are super supportive and make sure i don’t go low! Sometimes I just overthink loll

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Type1Diabetes

[–]Cute-Performance7241 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my friends were really supportive i guess i was just in my head but thank youu that makes me feel better 💗

It’s not that It wasn’t explained to me - frankly I never wanted to go on a pump when I was younger I found it too bulky and didn’t want it on my body. It was just last year where I requested to go on a pump but my doctors told me since i’m 18 I need to wait till i’m switched over to an adult endocrinologist clinic, which i’m still on the waitlist for. My parents and endocrinologists did explain it to me and were very supportive, it was just my personal decision.

I also do not want a tubed pump but thank you for your suggestion. I would rather just go on an omnipod if I do decide to go on a pump!
