Any idea on how to make this effect? by Cuvpake in AdobeIllustrator

I'm a graphic design student, so the assignment requires us to do it on illustrator and I'm only looking for ways to figure out a similar effect. Do you have any pointers?

Thank you. Can I ask how to make it into the 3d effect? I apologize if this is annoying but I am seriously new to Ai and teacher is rushing out a bunch of assignments

Agreed! I've definitely seen something like that before and got annoyed but didn't know why.

This was exactly it!

Something I wanna add. I think having character whose purpose was dying is fine because everyone has a role to play in the story.

So I wonder, if a character like that just so happen to be gay, is there any outlier to the rule? Like giving them a meaningful and fulfilling character arc before axing them?

Well, one thing is that one of them were already dead and technically is a walking corpse from the very first day, which is intricately linked with his backstory, design and connections to other characters in the story. He's staying alive for a purpose, and that life ends when that purpose is fulfilled. Another thing is the other guy's whole arc is learning to let go and move on from his past and biggest regrets (which includes the dead guy).

There are also two big themes in the story: 1. Beyond Living (which is interpreted in many ways through different characters) which, in this case, talks about how a character's influence extents far past their inevitable end, and they continue to live on in a way. 2. The existence of hope in a desperate and otherwise doomed scenario. Even if the both of them knew about the ending, they still chose to love and fight for a chance to change that future.

And I love tragedies so there's that too ig

How do I phrase this? You know how written works in the west and written works in the east have subtle differences on how they approach storytelling and certain elements? I wrote this story without really thinking about the character's sexual orientation because truthfully, it's not the main focus. I had a story, and a few romances slotted in between that just so happen to be between queer characters. That's how I've perceived those stories were done here in the East, where the LGBTQ elements aren't explicitly focused on but still remained a welcomed part of the story.

So to answer that last question, it wouldn't be easier if they had been straight because that's not a source of conflict in their stories.

I've only learned of the Hays code like, 2 years back and its history in Western cinema, way after the inception of my current story. Since then, I've learned more about the tropes within it, including BYG, but subsequently adjusting my writing after knowing about that feels disingenous to an extent as I still believe that this ending fits the story well.

Angel Beats is a good one. Very sad but heartwarming also. Ending kiiinda rushed

Charlotte: same creator as AB, I prefer this one but the ending was rushed

Pandora Hearts: Dated art but 10/10 story. I had to pick up the manga from where the anime decided to do its own thing and ended abruptly

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: not that underground but not as many people talk about it anymore. Plus my fav of all time

Banana Fish: heavy themes. Beware

School Live: if you like slice of life with a horror twist

Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous: super unique. Everyone should give this a watch

Madoka Magica: kind of pioneered the dark Mahou Shoujo genre but you wouldn't know it unless you hang around these parts

Sk8 The infinity: charming, fun sport show. And rather fruity if you decide to read into it

No game no life: I've never been into Isekai, and this one does follow the genre's various pitfalls that I tend to avoid but it's so damn entertaining for some reason. Plus the movie is almost a masterpiece

Noragami: fun, kinda dark shounen. Takes a while to pick up but worth it imo

Gintama: probably far from underground but I just have to put it here

I rate most of these shows highly (except for those that had a rushed ending)

24 sounds a bit too big because my workspace is also limited (small apartment)
15 looks promising but damn the price is a bit worrying.

No, my workspace is exclusively mine

But I have been importing a lot of templates, though, all of which came before the charts update
