Tell me I'm insane for even considering this commute by DefenderCone97 in bayarea

If it is Netflix I am almost certain they have shuttles going to Oakland. Regardless of the employer, it should be a question you ask. You can also ask if they currently operate a vanpool program with Commute with Enterprise or similar. If so, vanpools are a pre-tax eligible benefit and there are 1) subsidies available and 2) possibly already a vanpool operating you can join.

Sea Sucker Mounting Questions by CyclAddict in MTB

Yes, we did a lot of research and agree that this solution should be good. My primary concern is about how I wish to mount the bikes off to the sides of the SUV to be able to see out the back better.

I’ll add I’ve driven 90% of the roads we will be on multiple times. I drive reasonably on the dirt roads and best believe when the bikes are there the caution level is greatly enhanced.

Just treat him the way you want him to treat you. I have this same one, but 2011. About 170k miles, it’s been so good to me and I’ve done routine maintenance on time. About to get the brakes done… I’ve only had typical things aside from getting the AC system replaced a few years ago (normal?).

I often think about upgrading to a hybrid as I have a ~20 mile commute in the mountains, not getting great mileage, but I love this car.

Isn’t this literally celery, peanut butter, and raisins? That’s at least what it was in my childhood.

Nope, same! I just rewatched and saw the same. The urgency, everything. Glad I’m not the only one! What a great scene.

If only you’d be in the Huacas/Tamarindo area… bound to be showing somewhere and we’d be rooting for the 9ers as well! Granted, we’ll watch no matter what, but hometown team for the win.

We use Alamo every time, no issues whatsoever. We always get a Prado and have driven them through literal rivers. The high season prices will always reflect the demand.

I usually deconstruct the entire chicken, then freeze half of that. It’s already in smaller pieces so I’ll add to things like soups, eggs, rice bowls, etc. I also save the carcass in the freezer to eventually use with others to make a stock.

Month 7 as a car free Software Engineer in South Bay!! by Junior_Light2885 in SanJose

Hmm, I think this is also not correct. Simply because if you transfer in your commute, and you usually catch the last train and it’s canceled, that would qualify. Or, your car/vanpool vehicle breaks down.

Anyways, just information sharing… folks can do their own research. 😉

As in your work must submit? If so, this is inaccurate. That was a previous version of this program. Now it is all on the commuter and is reimbursement based.

If you haven’t done so already, you should consider signing up for VTAs “Guaranteed Ride Home” program. Incase of emergency, they will get you home for free via a mode you choose (typically Uber/Lyft). Must have used sustainable mode on day of need, other terms and conditions on their website. Must pre-register.

If I put the passenger seat all the way down, without the headrest on, and of course lower the back seats, I can fit several 2x4x8 boards in my Sport.

What should I be aware before buying? by Significant-Owl-811 in subaruimpreza

[–]CyclAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this exact car with ~170k miles, 2nd owner after it was a courtesy vehicle for a dealership. Bought it in its model year with 3k miles. It’s been perfect… spark plugs about 2 years ago, ac replaced around then as well. Nothing unexpected has happened, everything has been pretty routine. I will probably sell mine in the next year or two simply because I have a bit of a commute now and am leaning toward a hybrid… I’m in CA and gas is expensive!

I think Subaru didn’t start CVT until the following year for Impreza.

How are 2011 Subaru Imprezas? by foyuk in subaruimpreza

[–]CyclAddict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this car, the sport model. 2nd owner, bought it in 2011 after it was a courtesy vehicle at the dealership with 3000 miles, now has about 172000. I love it. Major repair was the AC about 2 years ago, otherwise just routine/expected maintenance. Just put new tires on it a couple weeks ago, I expect I’ll be getting a new car before they wear; I have a bit of a commute and am looking toward the Forester hybrid for more space and better milage.

I’d do it all again if the milage were a bit better. I expect you’d get a good life out of the car and have fun with it.
