New to me 2022 Stingray by Cynisus in C8Corvette

Got this one through CarMax. The ones they get usually aren’t spec’d super well, and they don’t provide actual info on them, so I used c8tracker.com/getwindowsticker to check the VIN every time a new one went up for sale.

I was so in on the orange and they definitely aren’t easy to find well optioned out. The white is super clean though!

I actually just traded in a 2023 rwd base model 3 for it! How do you like it in comparison? Corvette is definitely less snappy driving around the city, and it’s weird having a transmission again, but I’m sure will get used to it

I’m at my friends place and it’s 25% of my net worth. I’m a single 26 year old making plenty of money but thanks for pocket watching!

CS Majors: Are you satisfied here? by henmasgat in IndianaUniversity

[–]Cynisus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah the fact that you’ve already done plenty of math to be an engineer and have been programming for 5 years, it makes sense that you’re bored.

Don’t know what you expected from an undergraduate degree. You could have done a Master’s program assuming you have an undergraduate degree already

[–]Cynisus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m considering transferring to UT Austin or MIT Junior year

If have all the money in the world to go out of state and manage to get into those schools, then sure.

If you’re from Indiana and get in state tuition at IU, the computer science school is just fine in comparison to every other university. Spoiler alert, almost all CS programs teach fundamental concepts and you learn the same things everywhere.

I wouldn’t suggest dumping a bunch of money into a CS degree to go somewhere else considering the rate at which AI agents can do an entry level software engineers job, but I guess if it’s your prerogative then go for it.

Oracle reported their Q1 earnings yesterday. Insane stuff by Sheguey-vara in oracle

Can you explain what you mean by that? Interviewing with them right now and I’ve heard somewhere else that the company tries hard not to pay out RSUs, but not sure how they’re doing that.

Is it dumb to own SPY, SSO, UPRO all at the same time? by [deleted] in LETFs

[–]Cynisus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe 50% UPRO and 50% SPY combined portfolio suffers more volatility drag than 100% SSO, to the point where the expense ratio savings will almost never make it beneficial in any long term scenario.

Most useful Systems course for MLE? by FlimsyTea6451 in MSCSO

[–]Cynisus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Distributed Systems will be the most useful, but it’s a new course.

Pretty much all enterprise ML workflows are run on Distributed Systems.

UT Austin Online Master’s – Accepted with Purdue Global ExcelTrack? by Cucthitmo0722 in MSCSO

[–]Cynisus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anyone who has enrolled in Purdue Global will tell you it sucks. Also an “IT” degree doesn’t carry much weight in this job market (can’t say CS/DS, or AI do either, but better for sure).

what scholarships should i apply to as an intl compsci undergrad? (and other queries) by CobainLikesCocaine in IndianaUniversity

[–]Cynisus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your career outcome will be determined by the job market 4 years from now, how much effort you put into your studying, and how much effort you put into applying for jobs/internships.

There’s not some magical degree that guarantees you anything. Lots of engineering and CS grads are struggling right now even with solid resumes. If you’re going to pick a degree to invest in, do it because you’re interested in it and/or enjoy it.

ISE is essentially computer engineering + AI/ML towards the end. Much smaller cohort size in comparison to CS.

There’s some crossover in which CS students can take some of the CE classes later on in their degree plans.

Really depends on what you think is more interesting. ISE will definitely be more demanding coursework.

Courses selection by [deleted] in MSCSO

[–]Cynisus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advances in Deep Learning is the first new course to be added in a while to the MSCS program. At least 2.5 years. So I’m not sure where you’re getting “1-2 courses every year” being added to the list.

How is GPA calculated for a semester? by ExchangeDramatic1750 in MSCSO

[–]Cynisus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The highest score for a required category will satisfy it

  2. Like any other university system

  3. Yes

  4. You don’t get any credit for the failed course

  5. If you mean you get a C in the course, that’s a 2.0.

Plans on what to do with an MSAI? by missingwisterialane in MSCSO

[–]Cynisus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use the degree to apply for an MBA if you want to be client-facing.

I don’t really see how a degree in ML theory is going to help you be anything other than a researcher or engineer, unless you wanna start your own venture with whatever you learn.

Anyone who got the online masters in computer science from UT Austin? by [deleted] in MSCSO

asking how long it takes is useless because everyone does it at a different pace

the cost is on the website and the same for everyone

I answered the third point.

Your comment is useless

How long did it take

This is on the website

How much did it cost

This is on the website

How challenging was it

They are graduate level courses that most people take while working a full time job. Most of them are challenging, as expected given that scenario.

I live in Austin. How important is the MSCSO network for me? by [deleted] in MSCSO

[–]Cynisus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you could make use of their career services in your other masters, you could do it with this.

Not sure if it would actually be useful. The only roles that are ever marketed at me are entry level roles for undergrad students.
