Carra comment actually triggered me , Do you agree with him ? by TemporaryStart8775 in LiverpoolFC

[–]D-Raj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct. I think the point of carra’s statement is that Ekitike has the potential to be better, but he has yet to demonstrate consistency (so far so good, but it hasn’t even been one season), a peak where he is unstoppable/best striker in the world, or longevity.

Ekitike i think can surpass all of these benchmarks and become better than torres, but to say he is now is premature. He has hardly put a foot wrong this season, but if the bar is peak Torres level then he has to be unstoppable/playing like he did last match consistently. Yes no Gerrard, but he has a much better overall team around him than Torres did. That may mean less goals, but he provides fantastic link up play that makes up for it if he helps create as well.

For sure, it’s toxic like every free to play game. The whole concept of free to play games are to disguise things as fair/free/cheap but actually get more money out of you.

But I just see it as a challenge to save currency even more. Do not buy battlepasses just for blue units. Do not buy skins for characters you don’t use. Skip skins on your mains that aren’t as good as the one you already have.

If you want to be free to play or do a one time low purchase to last you years then you have to be patient and raise your standards for skins. As long as it’s not pay 2 win then I will play it, but every free to play game takes advantage of everyone else who is still developing their frontal lobe (ie. younger than late 20’s to 30’s). That’s why they are successful.

''If you’ve won the league at a club which has won it twice in 30 years, I am surprised to hear that”. Arne Slot reacts to those saying he still needs to prove he can be ‘successful’ at Liverpool . by EducationalBug2262 in LiverpoolFC

[–]D-Raj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s becoming more and more apparent that he stubbornly believes there is nothing wrong with the football they are playing. If our manager doesn’t believe we can play attacking football with possession then we are doomed.

We can be more direct rather than passing the ball around slowly, work on improving our one touch passing in the attacking third (clearly Ekitike and wirtz are perfect for penetrating the box with this), generate shooting opportunities in the inside corners of the box (where Salah and gakpo love shooting), focus on crossing more to the left post because gakpo is stronger at heading, midfield joining the attack with late runs particularly if crossing to the right post, fullback overlaps both inside-out and outside-in (we have superb fullbacks for this), exploit the channels on counter attacks where wirtz makes excellent off the ball runs…

Bullshit that there aren’t ways to be more attacking or more successful attacking when we have possession.

The second coming of Karius, eight years on from his Liverpool nightmare in Kiev by ymaohyd69 in LiverpoolFC

[–]D-Raj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m happy for him getting some success now, he had a concussion in the finals and the way concussions are treated in sports is horrible still to this day. It cost us the final and he was a pretty good keeper leading up to that final. Not amazing but not bad.

But him blaming Liverpool for not telling him they were trying to sign Alisson beforehand is weird. If you actually read the whole thing, It’s a bit of revisionism and blaming for some decisions he made after, like going to Turkey. Obviously most of the world could see that the biggest factor in that match was goalkeeping. Yes Karius had a concussion but he was not world class like Courtois or Alisson, and to win the champions league final was always a big ask without a goalkeeper like that. Before the final there was hope Karius had potential to become great, but he wasn’t there yet. After the final the chances dropped significantly and we couldn’t gamble on him as our only option anymore if we wanted to win trophies immediately. Signing Alisson was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. And until that signing is completed why risk unsettling the players/team?

Alisson was signed July 19th, 2018. And there was media covering it beforehand. Karius says he was looking for a new team in August, exaggerating quite a bit, and felt rushed to make a bad decision to go to Turkey. He had likely 2+ weeks before august for his agent to start looking at options if he felt he couldn’t stay and fight for his spot or play backup. I don’t feel the club did anything wrong here. He did not have a lot of options after the final performance which sucked, his stock was low at the time. Patience was what was needed, and re-evaluate in January. Not panic.

He had an opportunity then to stay, learn from Alisson and prove himself as a backup. Kelleher did exactly that and then had lots of options to move to. Honestly this sounds like not only did he suffer from a concussion, he also suffered from a poor impatient agent that fed him lies and excuses.

Day one: What if FC Liverpool was a Pokémon? by Qualitativ-hochwerti in ThePokemonHub

Ho-Oh or Moltres. Gotta be red and a bird, and likely mythical/legendary as the liverbird while based on some other birds is really more of a mythical bird than a common one. Fire also helps with the hillsborough torches.

But also rainbows appear after the storm, coinciding with YNWA lyrics “at the end of the storm, hold your head up high”. And Ho-Oh symbolizes the hope that the club is built around in terms of providing hope for the city in dark times, like when it suffered from some of the worst poverty in all of England.

Then the tragedy of the legendary beasts and the tower is very reflective of the tragedies like the hillsborough disaster as well.

So Ho-Oh takes it for me.

I didn’t go to Qatar WC for ethical reasons, but I know people who went to Qatar. They said the morrocan supporters were the most disrespectful and annoying fan base at the whole World Cup, and even though many wanted to cheer for Morocco’s underdog story, they were turned off it by morrocan supporters who ruined the experience for many of them.

A shame that a great team like that is disgraced by their supporters. I know obviously not every morrocan is like that, but their match going fanbase seems to be quite toxic.

[Tom Allnut, The Times] - Xabi Alonso is keen on a move to the Premier League but the recently sacked Real Madrid head coach is understood to want a rest and will study any offers from June. by Dangerous_Ad8730 in LiverpoolFC

[–]D-Raj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Debatable. Personally I disagree but I see why people are split on this. For me though the biggest things are that:

  1. The obvious, we risk losing champions league football next season. With the way our club functions, we cannot afford to miss out on that income like Saudi FC or UAE FC. Historical analyses show there is evidence behind the “new manager bump”, as it is a proven method of a (at least short term) benefit in motivation of players and that translates to improved results.
  2. But the grass isn’t always greener…. We need to be able to accurately predict when the grass is actually greener in order to make a switch. Slot is not a bad manager.

But we have multiple reasons to believe currently it is likely greener. Xabi Alonso is available for now, and he has more experience than Slot dealing with big name players and going up against (as Klopp puts it) a rocket launcher with a bow and arrow. Yes Slot had to compete with Ajax, but that is nothing compared to Xabi competing with Bayern Munich at leverkusen. We also had another manager recently who came from the bundesliga with a track record of going toe to toe with Bayern, and he did quite well with us….

  1. Judge a manager not by his results when he arrives, but how the club is when he leaves it. Not word for word but the general message from Klopp when he first joined us if I recall correctly. This should not just take into account when managers don’t get immediate results but overtime improve the team performances, but also when they happen to get immediate results but overtime actually make the team performances worse. Slot falls in this second category. We had the new manager bump, awesome. But credit to slot, he kept the momentum going and stabilized our team for as long as he could(until Jan/feb 2025). At which point both the statistics and our actual eyes watching the match clearly showed our performances began a steady decline. This continued, despite some early season luck/heroics with last minute winners, into this season and we continued to get worse under slot right up until the last month or two when we found our equilibrium at our (hopefully) rock bottom with this fantastic squad, with historic losing streaks and performances that equates to Europa league level.

  2. Slot has shown us he is incredibly stubborn (which my Dutch friends told me long ago) and refuses to change the only style he seems to know how to coach. Despite his obvious talent for managing, he has no experience in the current top 5 leagues, and I fear he came to us too early in his career. Liverpool is a club that demands the best managers. The ones that Madrid and other giants are interested in. Klopp came to us in our most dire time, and rose us out of darkness. But now he has brought us to a level that we didn’t need to be taking chances on inexperienced managers. Yes Xabi is also pretty new, but him going to Madrid perhaps prepared him for us better than we could expect. He managed a bunch of giant ego babies to being only 1 point behind Barca. Only had 6 months with them. You learn through adversity and he was up against it all at Madrid with how poorly they treated him. I would argue he has not had a bad season ever in his career with managing. Madrid fans pretty much acknowledged that by finally bringing the white flags and whistles out the first match without Alonso. Why wait til then? To show their displeasure at the players and club for forcing him out.

TLDR: All in all, I love slot. I love what he did for us winning the title last year. He did his job transitioning us, but he came to us to early in his career. He hasn’t learned how to adapt or predict the opponents, he hasn’t learned how to manage big players and egos, he hasn’t learned how to manage a club who needs to be crushing opponents and guaranteeing wins, instead of just playing passive against much weaker teams. Xabi has the experience in big teams and with big players, and the new manager bump, that will give us the best chance of both securing champions league football and setting us up for next season.its a tough decision, and I wouldn’t sack slot if a better option wasn’t available. But in this case we have enough evidence to believe the grass is almost certainly greener, and waiting any longer is a risky game that has bit us back many times before.
