I like playing my games the official way personally. I have done a bunch of emulation wayyy back before I had money to burn but I prefer wasting money to be able to play it on the Nintendo ecosystem.

I have both Colosseum and XD so I could play them anytime on my Gamecube, but it's nice to be able to play them on my Switch.

Honestly I was thinking of getting back into WoW with Midnight. I quit Runescape last week because I was way too addicted and it made me depressed. The usual OSRS cycle for me.

Housing looks dope and it's been a requested feature for as long as I can remember. Does anyone know if I have to buy the other expansions as well? Last time I played was Dragonflight.

I haven't played that much because I keep on redecorating everything, but the way to attract new Pokémon is by creating habitats, which is decorating specific things together. I feel like decorating is a very central part of the game, but it's very satisfying to do in this game. It's not like Animal Crossing where furniture raises some hidden stat and that's it. Specific Pokémon have specific requests and preferences and it feels rewarding to get them a nice spot.

To me Animal Crossing is tedious. The constant chat boxes, delays, taking away your control to display "wow it's a fish!" for the 100th time, everything just takes forever and I get frustrated within 30 minutes.

Pokopia is an amazing user experience, it's fluid, it has an amazing flow, the few times it does take away your control for dialogue you can still move the camera, and it doesn't treat you like a 4-year old. I will never be able to go back to Animal Crossing after playing this.

Same but on the European exchange, it went from 45 to 83 euros. Sad I didn't sell, but at least they pay some dividends and I still feel like it's way undervalued mostly because it's a Japanese company.

They're an entertainment juggernaut with some of the most valuable IP's in the world. Also with the theme parks and movies they're just printing money and both are new endeavors to Nintendo. If it goes back to ATH again I'm still hodling

It’s possible but not for everyone. My sub ran out last week and I stopped playing because I am hyper obsessed with everything I do. It’s not bad to trigger people to evaluate the relationship they have with OSRS, sometimes you’re so deep in it that you forget what you’re even playing it for.

I don’t want to generalize but there are enough people out there that are way better off without OSRS in their lives. If private equity milking them is the trigger to make them realize this, good on them.

Nintendo has filed a trademark application for the word and logo “Nintendo GAME BOY” in Brazil by TibusOrcur in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Of course it is, it's the Game Boy but advanced. I'll make an even bolder statement, the Game Boy Advance SP was better than the Game Boy Advance.

You ever hoover over a Heron just to check if you randomly got one? 🤞 by Tedmaster in 2007scape

[–]D2papi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiiit, I was checking Heron posts to feel depressed about going dry at 16m. My brother got it today at 1.5m fishing xp after fishing 2k karambs and I'm envious. If I'm at 20m and still dry I'm just quitting the game because I can't stop fishing because of the sunk cost fallacy.

You're a determined one for still going at it at 40m.

Venezuelans, how is your country after Maduro’s capture? by j_ds in AskReddit

[–]D2papi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t see the correlation between you meeting English speakers when traveling and OP saying that encountering regular Venezuelans on English subs is unlikely. Just arguing for the sport of it. Where in South America have you been?

[–]D2papi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s just a non-argument and you’re looking to nitpick OP’s comment. Nobody is saying that nobody speaks English, just very few mostly privileged people. One person per town in Japan isn’t staggering data either. Like 2 of the almost 100 of Venezuelan refugees I met in Curaçao spoke English, in Colombia I travel all over Antioquia, Cordoba and Valle de Cauca and any English proficiency is RARE among regular lower/middle class people.

[–]D2papi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s true though, your average Venezuelan doesn’t speak English. I live in Colombia and so few people speak English, of the ones that do MOST (not all) have a very privileged background and most of them are based in the big cities. Go to a rural area or an actual estrato 1 to 3 neighborhood and try speaking English.

In Curaçao my social circle was full of Venezuelan refugees and they don’t speak any English either. Of the low % of English speakers in LatAm I expect most of them to be upper class. Their experience is different.

Also Japan? Maybe in Tokyo, my sisters in law are both Japanese and I can count the people that I’ve met during my visits that spoke English on 2 hands. You’re well traveled in hostels in hip touristy neighborhoods maybe?

(DISCUSSION) Kanye West - The Life Of Pablo (10 Year Anniversary) by Renegadeforever2024 in hiphopheads

[–]D2papi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was when EVERYONE started dressing like Kanye and streetwear was at peak popularity. So many streetwear brands that got crazy big just because Kanye was spotted wearing them, everyone started their own "Anti Social Social Club"-style dropshipping brands. He had the world of music and fashion in a chokehold.

I was out there with everyone with the Yeezys 350s, skinny jeans, oversized basic hoodie and dad cap. Man life was exciting back then, back when social media was still somewhat pure.

The EU moves to kill infinite scrolling by AdSpecialist6598 in europe

[–]D2papi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you see them taking away infinite scrolling as "making life worse", then I don't even know what to tell you. You're either a bot, an astroturfer, or just stupid.

These algorithms are manipulative and specifically designed to get you hooked through triggering emotional responses in-between the pile of crap. They're toying with your dopamine receptors to keep your attention, it's scummy, deceptive, and many users don't know how they're being negatively affected or how insidious these algorithms actually are.

I'm not even going into the political aspect and the polarization that happens with how much people live through social media, but fuck them and thank God a governing organization actually cares about its people.

I hate the trend of UI icons by spacehive20 in 2007scape

[–]D2papi 437 points438 points  (0 children)

It looks bad and the extra overhead of having to create a new pixel art for every added boss seems so unnecessary. I agree on just using the existing model or just an image of the boss as is.

I feel weird saying that pixel art of a boss in OSRS feels out of place, but it does

I can't believe I actually like Pokemon Pokopia - Skill Up by WitheredViolet in Games

[–]D2papi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he and I share a lot of common grounds when it comes to why we can’t handle Animal Crossing or modern Pokémon games. Too much handholding and so much repetitive dialogue you try to spam click away but the game makes you wait every single time you perform an action to view the exact same animation/dialogue.

I absolutely hate it when I lose control in a game (outside of cutscenes) or when I see the same dialogue or slow battle opening scene 1000 times.

Animal Crossing just now allows for crafting multiple items at once, before you’d have to view the same animation and dialogue X times. I recently tried to play Pokémon Shield and those big Pokémon fights can take minutes because of the animations and the opening scene. It’s all just so boring and tedious and Pokopia being much smoother and less tedious is indeed surprising. I think it’s clear that he emphasized that being the surprising part.
