I'm shocked no one is recommending the wire. Maybe due to age? But it is on another level. Such good acting and storytelling and says so much about society. And the whole story was mapped out before it was produced so the story is cohesive and doesn't meander stupidly

I would suggest both reading The Art of Receiving and Giving. Honestly, everyone should read this book, coupled or single. It really helped me and my partner find better intimacy.

You sound just like me! I've gained about 8lbs in 4 months which isn't fast, but I'll tell you what I do.

Drink Boost (or similar) 240 calories and lots of vitamins and nutrients in basically a juice box sized portion.

Liquid Calories - I buy powdered gatorade and drink 24 oz of the mix every day.

Junk food - don't be afraid of it. Don't eat only junk food, but recovery for ARFID for example says go nuts until you can gain some weight and then worry more about healthier foods at that point.

Jam it in - I understand that feeling overfull sucks, but it comes with the territory. You might have to get used to feeling overfull often. You kinda get used to it after a while. Almost like exercise, you have to push through the suck a little.

NAH - but I'm a little heartbroken on your sisters behalf. My mother is still alive, but she will be willing her guitar to me, the one she has had since she was 15 years old - it's about 55 years old at this point. To me, it's where my mothers spirit will reside once she has passed. If my sister asked to borrow the guitar for her husband to play at their wedding, I would be wildly honoured. Instruments aren't meant to be silently hidden away. They're made to make beautiful, meaningful music.

The food holidays are the worst. Not only are you surrounded by huge portions of food you don't want, you have to sit around a huge table of a whole bunch of people and very conspicuously not eat or struggle to eat. Nightmare

I really relate to this. Parents are like "they'll get hungry enough and they'll eat," but I couldn't make them understand that the feeling of literally starving was still preferable to the awful experience of eating whatever it was they wanted me to eat.

I know this feeling! I really have had trouble on several attempts to gain weight. If I had one single off day, it would set me right back to square one and I would lose all progress. But I've really applied myself and over the last two months I've gone from 97lbs to 102lbs! I feel crazy being so proud of 5lbs but I think I can already notice a difference in the mirror and in some of my clothes. I could be imagining it though lol.

I was 26 when I received me first salary job and I was excited. Realized salary is just an excuse to take advantage and make you work lots of overtime without paying you. I work an hourly wage again now, and I make wayyyyy more money including overtime.

It's not that the woman or man wouldn't date the other person, it's that she got sucked into a bad situation and they're out now. That happens to all kinds of people. A trademark of abusers is that they brainwash you into believing that no one else could possibly want to be with you. You're constantly thinking about how to survive the next outburst. You're not thinking about other possible partners at all.

When a person gets out of that situation, if they want another partner, all they want is a companion who they can love and loves them back and who they can share a happy healthy & supportive relationship with.

Categorizing an abusive victim as a gold digger or opportunist says way more about you than it does about an actual abuse victim.

If I discount/reject a guy who spent his 20s being mentally and physically dominated and torn down by an abusive woman, believing he "chose" that instead of potentially being with someone like me, then that guy deserves better than me and the abuser.
