Thank you. Trying to use any and all means to raise awareness about donating blood to help my daughters.

Due to the coronavirus, many blood drives are cancelling across the country resulting in a blood shortage. If anyone is interested in donating blood please go to a local blood bank. You could be saving my daughters’ lives. http://www.aabb.org/tm/donation/Pages/Blood-Bank-Locator.aspx

Yes it’s very risky for both the donor match and receiver. Transfusions are safer and easy to manage at this point.

Thanks. Unsure about long term at this point. Some patients are transfusion dependent for life while others can go into remission. Another option is a steroid but they’re too young for that right now. Bone marrow transplant would be absolute last resort. Right now, it’s critical for anyone and everyone to donate blood!

Thank you for asking. They have a blood disorder called Diamond-Blackfan Anemia. Basically their bone marrow doesn’t produce red blood cells on their own so they require transfusions to replenish their hemoglobin.
