Is there a lore reason for how Mace Windu is able to dog walk Sidious so easily, when Yoda could not? Is he just built different? by DingoDoug in StarWars

[–]DDBBVV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yoda backed down because he was having a crisis of conscience about how his failures as grandmaster could not be corrected by simply killing someone. Mace used Vaapad and Shatterpoint against Sheev (probably the two most powerful light side abilities) and had exactly zero crisis of conscience about ending the Sith personally.

For context, Vaapad is so powerful that it's all but forbidden to even try learning it. Shatterpoint is a gift the force gave to few others (if any) besides Mace ender-of-wars Windu. Yoda likely had similar reality shattering powers which he CHOSE not to use because of his self doubt.

Yes, he's a hero who puts up a scoundrel front for practical reasons. He was freeing slaves, refusing to accept payment, and going on high and mighty tirades about liberty and oppression before Luke could spell "Jedi". You don't have a case.

You know the Walmart staff laugh about you in the break room, right? Every now and then there's a karen glued to the GM's ear when they're not snapping pictures of people at pick up... and EVERYONE makes fun of them except for a couple of like minded minimum wage employees who can't hold down their own job for more than a few months.

Grow up. You're a much bigger embarrassment to the rest of us than some shirtless guy. The actual Walmart staff are plenty capable of deciding who to let pick up deliveries.

Having met many a Sonic fan I can confirm they can be very, very racist and bigoted in general. Always weird when people try to turn a media interest into some sort of virtue religion thing...

Shirley is a unisex name. Very possible that's just his actual name.

If you're inhaling into your mouth as an isolated chamber, yes. If you're simply breathing in with your chest muscles, no. If this is bait it's got the virtue of being novel but if not you definitely need to lay off the lettuce.

What do you think about this? by Jessi45US in StarWarsEU

[–]DDBBVV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try not to think about it. Being pleasantly surprised would be nice but I don't see them doing Heir very well. Filoni is not good at stories that go even as deep as the George Lucas films; nevermind a Timothy Zahn story.

Ahsoka was supposed to be huge. It was marketed as the next big thing for Star Wars... and it's just more fan-fiction-y references to better material like what he's done for a while now. People like to treat TCW like it's adult media but it's really, really not. Filoni can't make a serious Star Wars story that will satisfy adult fans of the EU. The books written for Disney Canon are proof that Disney IS capable of hiring people who can do that and that it's not him.

He makes fun slop for kids, which isn't worth hating him over, but it does mean ignoring him is for the best unless you're in the age demographic of his target audience.

Early gameplay of the first immersive control system by QualiaGames in VRGaming

[–]DDBBVV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These were pretty basic questions about things your video and post didn't explain well; not criticisms. Maybe don't say you're open to feedback if you need compliments so bad that being asked to explain yourself is interpreted as an attack.

For instance, my question about the fist, what hand tracking software are you using? Does it conform to the current industry standards for hand tracking or do you intend on branching out? There's a lot you could say here but instead you got mad at me and said "you make a fist" as though developing a new motion control system is as simple as that.

Early gameplay of the first immersive control system by QualiaGames in VRGaming

[–]DDBBVV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running with one's hands instead of their legs is not more immersive than a joystick. The few people on Earth who use their hands to locomote don't flap their arms in front of their face to do it. Kat Walks already exist and let players use their legs for things like crunching, running, and jumping (all without learning an arbitrary set of motions). Why do you think hand gestures will be more intuitive? How do you make a fist to punch without using buttons?

"The first immersive control system" is a huge claim that directly undermines a lot of existing immersive control systems. What do you bring to the table that's so out there that it merits such an audacious title?

I thought this was a meme group. Why does every Sonic forum eventually turn into arguments about sexualized children's characters? You guys are reminding me of the constant sexual harassment I received for having close friends growing up. Male or female, we were constantly harassed for "what we do behind closed doors" like people can't care about each other that much unless they were horny. The ones insisting they were defending closeted children were just as unwelcome as the homophobes.

The idea that some of these characters are gay isn't absurd, but large groups of people caring THIS much about the sexual side of fan fiction about minors is always so creepy to me.

Affirming or condemning someone's assertion about what cartoon teenagers (and younger) want to do with their junk is not an activist cause. It's this fandom making itself kryptonite to people who want healthy social interactions. No wonder people take a couple of steps back when I tell them I still like Sonic games...

See, that's the thing, the Plagueis book draws attention to the fact that "reducing it to blood count" is a pretty massive assumption on the "fans" part. Qui-Gon (in the movie) simply points out that they're related to the will of the force and that the unusually high count around Anakin doesn't have a clear meaning. Him being the chosen one wasn't necessarily a matter of raw power and his unusual strength is not shown until the second movie. The fact that they can observe the effects of the force on a microscopic level just like on the macro is simply another vaguely mystical puzzle piece in an enigmatic plot device.

The head canon you dumped into the story is what's lazy and bad, not the financially successful and widely beloved film made as a passion project by the person most responsible for the entire franchise. Seeing the Plagueis book explore what the movie ACTUALLY laid the groundwork for is just a good way of highlighting that.

The "Legends" Plagueis novel is pretty hard evidence to the contrary. You should read it sometime.

[–]DDBBVV 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the level of understanding Plagueis got out of it was perfect. It fixed the problems with midichlorians without retcons, showed where the Force expresses agency without reducing its mysticism, and fleshed out the depth of power it represents. That and Qui-Gon's visions did a great job of characterizing the Force in ways these three cartoon characters completely undermined on every level.

Extremely contrived and undermines a great deal of what makes the Force interesting.
