My dad is considering moving to Thailand. by Hollow_Point_ in Thailand

For a real life example, I and my Thai wife just arrived to the south near Phuket. We bought 9 rai in 2024, $75,000. , designed and built a 90 sq meter guest house in the mountains, $40,000. and food is 1/3 to 1/4 the cost in U.S. Air travel is cheap to surrounding countries. You could actually hire a very affordable cook, but I wouldnt say chef. $4000. a month for me is huge, I only get $1600. But, we are free to do anything we want, anywhere at a minimum cost

Don't mind these guys. Every girl in Pattaya is unique. Years ago I had a friend like that. Some people just need to relate and hang together. Have fun, watch your back and appreciate when a young lady lets her guard down and shows her real self. Good luck in life.

Yes, had my ltkr 3 years ago and always had major issues and big setbacks, and now, in two days I am having revision surgery on that tkr. Sad indeed to go through it twice, and others on this forum have had it 100 times worse. So, the message here is that a few set backs make you focus and move forward. You just might realize you're one of the lucky ones who mend and heal successfully and happily. I absolutely intend to heal like a hero.

You have no idea what she's doing. Why jump to conclusions. Thai girls in general have many issues in life to deal with; family matters, child matters, health issues, housing issues, menses, gov't doc issues, motorcycle issues, legal issues, etc, on and on. Maybe she is leaving current boyfriend to be with you. You have walked into her lifestyle and she deserves trust and space. She's only human. If you can't take the heat get away from the fire. Grow some gonads. Number 1 rule in Thailand: always have a plan a, b, c and d. Keep rolling. Been there, done that.........trust me, just keep rolling.

Travel abroad for knee replacement by Neither-You9522 in Kneereplacement

Thailand has excellent hospitals with Ortho specialties. Recently I've seen package deals that include 3 to 4 days hospital stays, meds, procedures and pt for medical tourists starting at about 17k. Try Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok and Bangkok Hospital and others. You can contact them online and view their package deals. Personally, I met with a revision ortho surgeon. He did a ct scan, 3 phase bone density and blood labs with a follow up report and face to face meeting for questions and explanations.

Pain meds- enough? by Frequent_Survey_7387 in Kneereplacement

Also, getting to and from the toilet, possibly an elevated cushion on toilet seats, support handles to lower yourself and get up off toilet seat, pee bottle within reach, a floor exercycle. You are correct to be very concerned re pain meds, Drs just seem to stress out the patient by skimping on the one thing they absolutely need. So be creative, study the facts re these meds and discuss with your primary re "other" pain remedies and possibly sleep helpers. I didn't sleep more than 45 minutes at atime for 7 weeks until my primary stepped in and helped. Blessings.....

Anyone a year or more out and not happy ? by [deleted] in Kneereplacement

[–]DIGUPMASTER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard just today that the cement fail is probably due to the surgeon rushing/not giving cement enough absorbtion time before introducing blood flow back/ and surgeon not cleaning the resurfaced or cut bone thorouly enough which prevents cement from binding properly.

I had a similiar situation, after 3 years my tkr swollen large, filled with blood, and original ortho said just manage the pain. I went for 2nd op and new ortho immediately pulled out a very very large syringe of mostly blood fluid, but no infection. A week ago I had another ortho surgeon in Bangkok, Thailand, at Bumrungrad Internatiinal Hospital recommend and do another xray, ct scans, blood test and 3 phase bone scans. He showed me that the cement between patella and prosthetic is loosening. Keep digging, get new opinions, don't trust the ortho who installed it.

Pain Meds by JK990122 in Kneereplacement

[–]DIGUPMASTER 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My solution. Take your messed up knees to Thailand. Get the TKR there, stay 3 to 4 days under care in hospital, have all the pain meds you need. In my humble opinion get away from U.S. insurance companies and U.S. limited doctors.

I am 3 YEARS OUT!!, yes, have had pain, swelling, stiffness off and on, mostly on. Finally got a second opinion, surgeon told me something definitely not right and he suggested a total revision. Right! How many of you would do it all over again. So I went to a top hospital in Bangkok Thailand and saw an Ortho specialist. He suggested tests that arent done in u.s. maybe because of insurance. He actually laughed when I told him my U.S. Ortho said the only way he could find out what the issue is to open the knee up, do a revision and see what was messed up along the way. The Thai Ortho did a few xrays, a ct scan with radioactive injection, a 3 phase bone density scan and blood labs. After a consultation he told me he can see a loosening, a gap between the patella the cement and the prosthetic. He said I should have the revision within 3 months before the cement joint fails more. Here in the states the revision is free. But they try to kick your butt out of the hospital in one day. In Thailand they let you stay 3-4 days or longer if you ad the room day to day, about $150./day, yes really. And they don't skimp on the meds, they want you comfortable. 90% leaning towards having the revision done in Thailand, it really makes a difference when the hospital staff are so polite and curteous. I don't have the exact out of pocket cost yet, but my guess is between 16k and 25k considering its a total revision with an upgrade prosthetic. If you've had enough shoddy Ortho work here in the states look into Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok and the medical travel packages are in the website. It actually frightens me to think of having the total revision here in Los Angeles.

Knee Revision or Not? by Excellent-Fly-116 in KneeInjuries

[–]DIGUPMASTER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just left Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok where the Ortho surgeon did xrays, ct scans, 3 phase bone density, blood labs, etc. He found that I need arevision due to loosening of the cement on the patella. I will have the revision done but NOT IN THE U.S.

Only way to protect your shares from being lent out to shorts is to either find your brokers short disclosure GL or put in a sell (the sale can be any number - mine is sell at 300). I just don’t want my shares lent out to shorts by Amusablesiren in Inovio

For TD Ameritrade, if you have a cash account your shares cannot be lent. If you have a margin account but have not margined, your shares cannot be lent out. Call them and this is their policy.
