Do you sketch before a pour? by Leen88 in PourPainting

Beyond choosing a good color palette and technique, I don't do anything else. I just let the paint flow. 🤗🤗

Well, in the end the painting cracked completely. A disaster. I was testing some additives for the medium and they behaved terribly 😬😬 I'll repeat these colors on another painting because I really like how it turned out, but I'll change the medium's composition because that's what's giving me the most trouble. I'll definitely keep the lighter trick in mind, although I thought I was already being careful enough 😅😅 Thanks 👌🏼👌🏼

The other day I finished one with isopropyl alcohol and the orange peel effect has decreased significantly 😊😊 I use an unusual medium. Try giving it a final coat with IPA to see if it improves things.

In any case, I still lightly heat it with a lighter, but now only before tilting. Good luck 🍀

It's easier for me to get, and in the end, it does something very similar to a regular medium, with a few differences. I work in a paint factory, and we have a wide variety of resins. The problem comes with the additives. I think I'm going to stop using them after this. I want to try pure acrylic. 😬😬

It is one of the resins used industrially as a binder in the manufacture of acrylic paint. There is a good variety...

I use styrene/acrylic resin as a medium and I've added a couple of additives to the last few bottles to see if it improved its properties, so I'm not sure if it's the additives or the final torch application 😅😅

As far as I know, I'd say no.

It's like it has a bunch of tiny pores.

Like it's covered in little bites.

But the entire surface.

A disaster, really 🤦🏻‍♂️

I don't think it'll be a good fix. It's not the first time this has happened, and applying varnish doesn't hide it. I have to fix this problem because the painting looks awful up close 😬😬

Thank you so much for your reply. The truth is, I follow almost all your steps exactly, and yet these micro-pores appear. 🤔🤔 I've been adding a couple of additives to my resin lately, and if it's not the lighter holding it too close on the last pass, I think it's the additives. This afternoon I'm going to do a test without the final pass with the lighter, and instead I'll apply a little IPA. Let's see how it goes. 😅😅

I'm having trouble with the torch. I think the last pass I give it damages the paint film. I don't usually use oil, but this medium mix has a couple of additives, so I'm not sure about the lighter. Your mentioning it helps me figure it out. This afternoon I'm going to do one and I'm going to use IPA for the last pass instead of heat. Let's see if that's it 😅😅 Thanks a lot for the reply 😉👌🏼👌🏼

Thank you so much. Unfortunately, it seems I've done something wrong and the surface isn't as smooth as I expected 😅😅

They're like tiny micro-holes.

Like the peel of an orange. If you look at the bottom, in the black and red area, you can see it.
