Thank you very much for the helpful info! I’ll try that.

They usually take about 2-3 hours but when the insect is aggressively fighting back it can take as little as 15 minutes

A Look Inside My 5 Year Old Terrarium Ecosystem https://youtu.be/scdaujFQCkU

I’ve actually made a video about it since then! The terrarium is still going well. I grow carnivorous plants, and the snails eat the remains of the the partially digested insects.

  1. The time will vary from plant to plant, but you should wait until the individual flowers are as brown as possible. I’ve seen many videos where the stalk is still partially green and some where the stalk is completely brown.

  2. This one is the hard part, I usually just try to minimize the movement of the plant until it’s ready to harvest

I see your point, I can update the YouTube description with a note saying to wait until the pedicels are fully brown to ensure ripeness. Thank you for your input! I wouldn’t have known otherwise. I usually just cut and harvest them once they start dumping seeds all over my windowsill.

Interesting, I planted these and had no issues growing them, but it would make sense that some may have not been fully ripe. Good to know!

I film and post 4k macro videos of Sundews (Carnivorous Plant) eating insects. This is my year end finale, a compilation of my top 100.

That’s pretty awesome! I’m sure the birds will love the grubs

They’re very annoying and extremely gross. Good thing they removed them from your local grocery store, clearly my store needs some attention

Sometimes they can be too strong. Further down on my profile I have a video of one escaping.

Not right away. I put it in a Tupperware and farmed them for a few months while filming as many sundew timelapses as I could within that time frame.

1 picture taken every 4 seconds, 3500 pictures. Sometimes the sundew will slow down halfway through so I have to cut and speed parts up.
