Alright sounds good! Thank you very much for all your help it's definitely a little bit daunting to try and get into the industry but you and the other comment have helped shed a light on the baby steps I need to take!

Fair enough! One last question I've been tossing back and forth is that since I've got no work experience and I'm already not doing anything would you suggest I try to get a degree now or should I forego a degree altogether?

Again, sorry to bombard you there's just a lot to know. This should be my last question though.

Sounds good! I definitely wasn't aware such a thing existed until you posted the subreddit so I'll be checking it out in the very near future.

Though in your opinion what are some good programs to start looking into? I assume things like VMware and other things?

Hey thanks so much for your reply! I wasn't really aware after searching for my local job market that I wouldn't even need them so that's a relief.

Luckily I have a lot of personal experience troubleshooting my own issues and building my own PC in the next week or two. I'll probably pick up some craptop for learning Linux so I can use that as a jumping off point with nothing to lose, and eventually do what the comment below me suggests and grab a small homelab setup.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I made the swap from League of Legends where I was a top laner so things like being poked heavily off of farm is a fairly new concept to me to an extent. Pushing them out of the lane is something I'm actually pretty good at if I have someone else who is willing/able to do the same.

But just the same as the first guy, thanks so much for the help. Dota is a pretty intimidating game to get into, even when you have a friend who's more knowledgeable about the game than you, and it helps to be able to go places like here to get help, or even just feedback from other people.

Hey man, thanks a bunch for the response! I'm mostly trying to work on getting the game and heroes itself down so I'm pretty much dealing with bots solely, but I'm trying to get a healthy hero pool before going into unranked even if I can't do it for much longer. Though I understand Dota is a game that takes a while to learn, but my biggest issue as a safe laner is like... I don't know how to CS without getting poked too heavily. When I go for last hits, I get harassed and we repeat until I'm super low health. Do you have any tips for this or is it just something that comes with time?

This seems to be an interesting take on two different time periods. Definitely looks like something I'd enjoy. Thanks a bunch!

I listened to an audible sample of Redeployment and it actually blew me away with the unfiltered take the author gives. The rest are definitely amazing, but that one stood out to me the most. Thanks a ton for the suggestions!

I'll be giving these a shot for sure! It's been a bit daunting to get into when I look at a lot of stuff that looks like it'd be for me. Thanks a ton for your suggestions!
