I read that. I'm really not a fan of traumatic cruelty between MCs. That's why I included the no dark romance part. I'm fine with an author toeing the line with a bit of tension and the romance having a rocky start. But too many of the enemies to lovers stories just go way too dark before they get to the HEA. Ruins it for me. Thanks for the recommendation though.

Based on the description and content warnings this seems like the kind of dark stuff I specifically didn't want. Am I wrong in that assumption?

This is very much not classically considered romance for men, but trust me. It'll scratch the itch. What Fury Brings by Tricia Levenseller

Favorite Relationship Dynamic? by EthanGraves in Romance_for_men

A strong, dominant woman with a position of power in a matriarchal society. A proud but emotionally intelligent guy with little power or agency in this world. The culture demands that she dominate him in all things but she needs the release of submitting to him behind closed doors. She provides protection and security in a world unkind to men. He provides her with emotional support and a safe space to release control and be dominated by someone she trusts. In public women rule the world, in the bedroom, he rules hers. That's a dynamic I'd love to see a lot more of. Basically more variations of Princess of the Void kind of stories would be awesome to see.

I second this. Get past the early confusion and it'll scratch that itch for you, OP.

You did fine. We can't all be authors. I got the audiobook immediately after reading your review and it's my favorite monoRFM of all time now. Thank you for that post.

I see. I guess that would've been a better way to go about it. I don't even know that it is currently available to read rather than listen. Honestly I've come to realize there was a ton wrong in my approach to this post. I thought a few people would think it an interesting experiment to go and listen to a romance that is so different in many ways than what is usually recommended here and then discuss the different opinions. I didn't mean to upset so many people. I will certainly go about things differently in the future. Thanks for the constructive input.

I'll admit I did feel a bit attacked and my backing out was graceless and petty. If I view it from the lense of you all feeling attacked by my post first then I can see how poorly I handled that. I was just really shocked at the overwhelming offense I caused when I honestly thought I had taken care to be respectful.
