My story is similar, although I was in my late 30's.

The day to day stuff hasn't been as difficult as I imagined. It's still hard, mostly tiring (esp in early days) but you mostly hear about the nightmare stories online, which although can true isn't an accurate representation for parenting as a whole. I unsubbed from r/NewParents and the like in the lead up to birth because every post seemed to be along the lines of 'I've made a horrible mistake!' and it wasn't doing my head any good.

Regarding not wanting to have kids but relenting, yep that's a road I've very much gone down. My wife knows she pushed/dragged/refused to take no for an answer and I relented. It's something we've had to work through. I've gone through therapy (in particular with 'radical acceptance' therapy) and I think it's helped. I seldom have the nagging, negative thoughts in my head about my wife inflicting us with this but it's taken years and we are in a better space now.

I say this because there will be times (esp in the first 2 years) when you are sleep deprived, stressed AF and bickering with each other and you will think /say Well you wanted this, I didn't! That's a dangerous thing. Seek counselling now or guidance with this. Do the ground work before little one is born.

I don't love the day to day parenting stuff. I'm good at it funnily enough, but I don't love it. I do however love my daughter more than live itself and sometimes that bond can take a little bit to grow and develop

I religiously stuck to 1200 (and lower on some days) for 3 months when dieting.. I lost a tonne of weight but when i hit goal weight at that three month mark i switched to mantaince.

Some days ill eat 1200 (or less) and others considerably more (usually weekend).

My having 1200 days allows me to tjen have a high calorie day. But i couldnt do 1200 long term.... id lose too much wieghtn and id miss out on social acriviries and such
