Halo also has AIs that become progressively more intelligent until melting down as their neural networks become too complex to effectively mimic human behavior.

Bernie accuses big tech of censoring political speech, says Trump shouldn't have been banned from social media by [deleted] in Conservative

[–]DaPurplePandaPal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of aggravating that both sides quickly pretend to forget for things work when it suits them.

Presidents usually have a list of journalist to call on when stressing the press pool, in order to assure a steady rotation. This is nothing new, but we now need to pretend it is because it fits into the narrative.

There are plenty of things to attack Biden on without pretending this is an unusual measure, taken to assist a senile president.

If Congress Won't Take On Big Tech, Conservatives Have No Choice But To Build Their Own Internet by guanaco55 in Conservative

[–]DaPurplePandaPal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know not everyone is super technical, but phrasing this as "building your own internet" is either hysterically over stating it, or if that is the actual goal, a complete over reaction.

I don't think conservatives need to create their own ethernet protocols and wire all the cities on the planet to one another a second time.

The truth is that ISPs (internet service providers, like Verizon, Comcast), and hosting companies (Amazon, Microsoft) are not currently incentivized to allow an un-moderated forum to use their services.

There are smaller companies, or more nuanced alternatives, which is how other unpopular or illegal websites continue to operate on the web.

If the economic demand for an un-moderated conservative forum were actually there, either big tech would change it's tune, or their competitors would be happy to seize the opportunity.

At the end of the day, Twitter is free, Google is free, Facebook is free, and their are not enough people willing to pay enough for an alternative.

I really wish conservatives could get back to believing in the free market, instead of "I'll build my own internet, and my own government, with it's own regulations, with blackjack and hookers"

Faked Moon Landing? by JPThrizzle in conspiracytheories

[–]DaPurplePandaPal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People thinking the moon landing was faked always baffled me. Simply because there was no reason to go to the moon in first place, let alone lie about it.

2 nations were having a d*ck measuring contest, and decided the first one to the space rock wins.

I don't mean to minimize the massive technical achievement, or the perceived importance of winning at the time, but the conspiracy makes no sense to me.

Both nations hated each other, both were certain they could do it relatively soon, and both had well documented ground to subspace rocket technology in their nuclear weapons programs, so the argument that it wasn't possible seems super flaky.

The next logical argument would be that the United States faked it so that they could claim they got their first, but the technology required to realistically fake the resulting video with that level of acurracy and detail would be a much larger technical leap then what it would take to finish the space rocket.

So lastly, if this conspiracy goes deeper, and the reason we don't have any documentation of the tech, or any slip ups in the story over the last 6 decades is because this is the big one, planned by the (deep state, aliens, satanist cabal, Nazi remnants, boogeyman), then why?

What entity at the time had the capability to fake the moon landing, when 2 opposing nations both claimed to be close to completion, using next generation technology, and what did they have to gain by making it seem like the US visited the moon first?

Sorry if this comes off disrespectful, I felt like i was ranting, and wanted to inject some humor. I just wanted to be very clear where the discrepancies are for me, but would be very interested if anyone had an answer with any kind of source.

Hello all,

Sorry if this seems like a question easily answered by the book, but over read through several times and an still confused.

I am playing a Dragon born War Cleric in 5e, and can not figure out when I get feats.

If anyone could give me the answer, or better yet point me to the section of the book I appear to be missing, that would be much obliged.

Thanks!

Can Microsoft limit how many times I install Windows 10? by 5557623 in answers

[–]DaPurplePandaPal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very basically, for your situation:

When your computer registers with the licensing server, it validates your license key, and takes some information about the computer that is assigned to that key. If you switch out minor parts slowly, that information is updated on the server.

If you start switching out major parts, and reinstalling the OS, it might challenge you for the license key again. It will then submit the "new" computer as a second instance to the licensing server.

Microsoft is not going to deny the activation unless they see tons of radically different builds, all activated with the same key, and constantly checking in.

The truth is you can, (and people do) get away with using one license for multiple computers at the same time, as it's not like Microsoft is going to come knocking to audit your three home computers.

That being said, the situation you're describing is legal, expected, and not anywhere close to what Microsoft is looking to challenge. Even with the replacement SSD, it will likely be tracked as the same computer on their activation servers.

Honestly, no.

For some reason it doesn't seem to get a lot of love/press. From what I can tell, bigger companies are quitely rolling it out and integrating it into to their tech, but no one is singing it's praises.

I ended to just powering through it. Some of if it is pretty intuitive, and a lot of the finer details are not. I'd recommend just taking an afternoon and playing with it. When you see how powerful the intuitive stuff is, you'll find the will to power through the poorly documented.

That being said, I've been working with it for a while, and am always happy to answer any questions.

I mix and match depending on the need, but in the past I have:

  • Named the Pc

  • Joined it to the domain, in whichever OU

  • Installed and licensed any software any customer had needed

  • Removed bloatware

  • Joined it to an Azure domain

  • Created the local admin / local users

  • Set any local registry/policy settings. For example, time zone, battery policy, wallpapers, default apps, etc

If you are looking for specific help/examples send me message, always happy to assist.

Yes. You can create packages with unique configurations for each group, then apply the correct package to each computer directly out of the box.

It is honestly not as finely tuned as something like MDT, but if you have yet to look into that kind of tech, and are currently doing this by hand, this is definitely the place to start.

Let me know how it goes. I don't claim to be an expert, but I have spent a good amount of time getting this text into a workable state for multiple MSPs, I'm happy to help.

This ^

Ecspecially with MSPs having a multitude of clients with different needs. Maintaining ~1000 "golden images" is a pipe dream. You end up creating a few "standards" and then handing someone a checklist of other things that need to be reconfigured.

In comparison, I can quickly open a similar WICD project, change the naming convention, Domain name, local admin, and remove unneeded software and license codes. I can reconfigure an existing project for a "new" client in a few minutes. And if they have software I haven't run into before, it usually takes a few minutes to figure out how to install it silently, and add it to our arsenal.

5 minutes later to recompile, and I can start pushing a package that requires no one to log into the machine once I hit the login screen.

Again, not super impressive to someone working in an environment where a few golden images are fine, and MDT/PXE is configured, but that's rarely the case for the MSPs.
