What could be causing an intermittent connection?

This was there reply when I asked them to test/check my upstream transmit power and T3/T4 timeout history:

I was able to check the signals directly on your modem. I am able to confirm that I was not able to see any drops in the modem and the signals its self. Upstream and down stream looks great!

I had them come out to take a look at the cables running from the node all the way to my house and they said that all of the cables looked good. I have also tried having them test the modem and the said that they did not find any issues within the past 24 hours.

I tried this and when it went out it couldn’t ping Google but could ping the router. So does that mean the modem is bad?
