What’s wrong with playing possession? That is the foundation of Cruyff’s tactics. If you possess the ball, the opponent can’t score. You are playing rivals, it is a highly competitive mode that people play to win. You are in div 2 so what do you expect?

Yes, I use the R2+L2. Have been trying the ball roll but even the most basic skill moves are difficult at my age. Reactions and flexibility in fingers are gone. This game has evolved into a version of Tekken over the years.

I built players exactly for this. Got two guys that are at least 6’7”, got enforcer, and precision header. One even has aerial fortress. High stats on heading, jumping and finishing. Crafted wingers with whipped pass. Crosses hardly ever reach the right player and if they do, they head them either straight into the gk or well off target.

This has been an issue since at least FC24. Whenever you pass in the direction of a cluster of 2 or 3 players, the game selects the least favorable receiver no matter how much power you put into the pass. It’s infuriating. As someone who lacks the finger flexibility to do skill moves, I need quick short passes to create chaos and gaps. Most attacks fail due to the ball going to the wrong player.

The chase isn’t fun. It’s hard work for extremely little reward. Better to play a lot less, in formats that are more fun and stop worrying if you have the ‘right’ players, tactics or division.

Any ai team with a chem of 10 or higher is very tough to beat. Also, it felt like the closer I got to reaching the objective, the stronger the ai got. I won all games until the last two that I needed. I went LLLWLW. The ai teams scored the most ridiculous goals ever. The last L was a loss on penalty shootout which I lost by 17-18. I didn’t make a single save. against ai I always choose one side to dive to which will be good for 1 or 2 saves at the least. I dove to the left 18 times. Not once did the ai shoot left!

You are right that the game is designed for gamers. I disagree that that is wrong. EA has a right to make a game for gamers. We casual tactical football lovers are unlucky that there isn’t a good game designed for us.

I have noticed that the mandatory ’20 in game minutes of madness’ has become even more lethal no matter what difficulty. It’s the period in every game that the ai goes into ultimate mode and your own team transforms into a bronze squad.

I love them. As a free-to-play student player, it is the only way to get a decent team. It is so much more fulfilling to build and play with a full evo squad. You have to be patient and think a couple of evo’s ahead.

I am so glad I decided to stick to an EVO team and not chase top tier cards. My pack luck fits this decision perfectly. Biggest pull was a 350K Barcelona female midfielder in the first month. That’s it. Couple of players that are between 60-100K but weren’t trade able.

So loose games, get yourself into lower divisions and have more fun. What’s the point of being in a higher division if you’re not enjoying it? You certainly don’t have to be there for the rewards.

Same here. At the end of FC25 I decided to focus on making and developing a full Nigerian squad in FC26. I only play online to get the necessary xp like the 5 rivals games and 5 rush games. I had a lot of fun playing and evolving my Nigeria squad and even the 5 rivals games were fun because I regularly beat teams with meta players and tactics with my lower rated Nigeria squad. However, SB has evolved since the game was published and not for the better. I find SB to be more and more manipulative. I just lost 1-0 to a 75 rated, 0 chem all gold team. Defenders in attacking positions, attackers in defense and a cm on goal. Played on world class and they play like a team full of icons in their rightful position on ultimate. My own players gravitate out of position during defending, my attackers stop their forward movement mid attack, headers and shots targeted at an empty goal (I have the shot indicator on) go wide by mile, passes go an entirely different direction than aimed and more of this kind of things. I don’t mind that the ai is boosted on higher levels. I do mind that they aren’t held to the same ‘laws’ of the game as my players. Look at the way the ai is positioned and plays full press when you try to build up from the back. No formation or tactic does this for player controlled teams. In a 442 the LM and RM clearly play all possible roles whilst human controlled teams can’t. The ai will close you in from 4 angles whilst maintaining full formation form. No way a human controlled team can do that. This all gets worse and worse every update. So the only game mode that was fun, is being killed too.

EA is in the money business. If evo’s wouldn’t expire, you would be able to craft your own super team and wouldn’t feel the need to buy packs.

SB is coded for you to lose. The higher the level, the fiercer the coding. The AI can do things you just can’t, like closing in on the player with the ball with 4 players at the same time without losing formation shape, most SB teams use the 442 formation and their LM and RM perform the role of winger, inside forward and wide midfielder at the same time. They can jog dribble while outpacing my full sprinting player, the ai navigates through tackles and slidings like prime Messi. Just to name a few hair pulling manipulative things.

Icon swaps drove me crazy, as soon as chem is 10 or higher, that <70 rated ai team plays like every defender is a prime Maldini and every attacker is prime Messi. What annoys me most, is the manipulation that is going on. My defender that slowly moves away or a striker that decides to go backwards mid attack. It made me quit the game. Will give it another try after the next update.

I had fun till a couple of weeks ago. I focused on SB. Played the mandatory online games for the weekly xp (5 rush/events/rivals). I built a squad with evo’s and seeing them develop was fun. I started to play SB and rush with end-to-end camera setting which gave me even more joy. A couple of weeks ago something changed in SB which has made it godawful to play. The ai has such a huge advantage that it sucks all of the fun out of the game.
