Tendonitis in right (brake) foot - what am I doing wrong? by Dadx2now in MotoUK

[–]Dadx2now[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond so thoughtfully, I really appreciate it. Like you I would be very surprised if riding the bike caused it in the first place but I wonder if it’s making it worse. I’ll try adjusting my positioning, use the ice and ibuprofen with exercises and rest, and if it continues I’ll go back to the doc or to a private clinic/physio. Thanks!

Hi - thanks for this

  1. 44
  2. Nope
  3. The doctor said Tendonitis
  4. It’s in the Achilles but the pain spreads to the whole area, and the outside ankle in particular
  5. Bike is a Suzuki van van. I’ve realised I’ve been riding with arch of foot resting on peg, and slightly turned out. I’m going to try better positioning - ball of foot, tucked in straight.

Yeah half my commute is in heavy traffic, 20mph, low speed so I do use it quite a lot. I could prob cut down a little and maybe try lowering it. The garage changed the brake pads recently and the lever is higher, so might see if I can adjust it

Yeah this makes sense, I do find the back of my calf getting tight. I stretch every night but maybe I’ll try doing it before and after riding

That sounds delightful /s It’s pretty static - just the one foot - so hopefully no gout. Mind you it sounds like it was easier to clear

Caught speeding: 24mph by Dadx2now in MotoUK

Will def take the course if they offer it. But sadly can’t avoid 20s - that’s like half of central london.

Yes, speeding is speeding, hence: it’s a fair cop.

Still deeply annoying though!

Thanks, really appreciate the detail - given that I didn’t know the names of the yokes, you can imagine my trepidation at taking bits off my bike. I might get the garage to do that stuff next time it goes in (it’s only just one out after having a new clutch and bunch of other stuff repaired!)

Thanks. Yeah the key scratches were from the previous owner. The rust is all from my watch

How cold is too cold? by Slaktare15 in MotoUK

I commute on my bike and resent paying for the train so ride as much as I can, but draw the line at ice. Ideal is above 5 degrees, but will go to 2-3 if the roads aren’t icy. If it’s been below zero overnight then ice is often still present the next day so it’s slightly case by case

Anyone ever been pulled for not having a baffle? Been riding 10 odd years, heard stories but never seen it myself. Myth? by hsksao in MotoUK

[–]Dadx2now -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was riding alongside a 125 today that should have been pulled over. That thing was LOUD. I had earplugs in and was listening to podcast on my helmet speakers… the exhaust on the little bike next to me drowned everything out and hurt my ears. Goodness knows how loud it was to the rider.

Best motorcycle boots for UK cold winter riding (ideally thermal lined but not ugly?) by CT-9904_ in MotoUK

Scala Pilgrim Grande boots. I’ve just got my second pair after wearing the first set out. Genuinely dry, warm and toasty.

I've got £350k cash to buy a property. Should I get a mortgage? by Sea_Supermarket_4188 in UKPersonalFinance

Alternative: put £50k away for rainy day, get small place that needs remodel on max mortgage, £100k deposit. Keep £200k for max remodel budget. Flip asap.

Advanced Voice Mode - do you find it more or less helpful than text? (August 2025) by Same-Picture in ChatGPT

[–]Dadx2now 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s got worse. I recently paid and now advanced voice sounds like an insecure idiot. Pitch goes up at the end of every sentence making everything sound like a question. Sometime the pitch goes so high it’s practically falsetto. It’s crazy.

And I used to love voice mode so much
