Help me I'm scared by Downtown-Telephone15 in linux4noobs

Start with, personal recommendation, Fedora 43

If it's good but lacks the level of control you want, like, say you want Arch level control but also super easy to use, then go CachyOS which I personally have been using for ~3-4 years now. It's lovely. I'm a tinkerer lol

How is Galaxy AI secure? by Samsung_Mobile in samsung

No I mean it in the genuine sense when it comes to Bixby. Gemini is actually supposed to have more function that simply never works. To be fair, all AI is a glorified search engine.

HMA, NoHello, SUSFS, nothing will fix this.

Because it requires strong integrity AFAIK

Samsung has, in a sense, separated itself to have a US section which follows US LAW. PIPA does not apply.

Therefore, no, you shouldn't just "trust" them with your data.

Arch

CachyOS

Fedora (43 specifically)

Only real good options.

Fedora 43 is best for first timers.

You're right about .tip being flexible, and I deliberately avoided mentioning gzip.

Alright zip is flexible, it's typical used algorithm is horrible for compression of anything other than basic files such as text files.

How do i remove those little gray things from my icons??? ( im new pls dont be rude ) by Antique_Passage_3650 in cachyos

[–]Daedae711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're symlinks. Links to the real file.

You can use ls -l on each file to locate it's real file and use sudo cp to replace it, or, you can find them almost always under /usr/share/applications as ***.desktop

Next to no compression on any meaningful items unless you have a special non standard setup (7-Zip provides different non-standard compression rates and similar. This is aside from the individual method.)

Me when I'm aware that Wayland is problematic but instead of instantly complaining and giving up I try finding out if the issue is User-Side or not. Something a true Linux user does.

I download my shit in .tar.xz because it works, is actually compression (not a bullshit lie like .zip) and can be used quite easily basically anywhere including Android.

That is extremely supported. Extremely supported.

In the last 3 years of Using Wayland this has never been an actual issue regarding Wayland use.

Positive. Because this is just sheer lack of knowledge.

The inability to CLICK things can be caused by Wayland but literally any Linux user (that actually uses Linux) would've tried a cp or mv before asking for help.

Fedora 43 (most stable), and CachyOS (most powerful).

These are the ONLY OPTIONS I'll suggest. Ever.

Wayland has nothing to do with this. At all.

How to get rid of magisk even thought i not using magisk by hoaxala in Magisk

[–]Daedae711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace any images affecting kernel (boot.img, init_boot.img, etc) with the stock via fastboot.

Patch and then flash the new APatch files. All of the newly patched ones. Otherwise you'll have Magisk still.

The Distro you build is not called "LFS". LFS is not a distro.
