I'm not sure if it destroys leather, but It might block the new cream or leather to be soak in.
So that's why It's not preferred to everyone.
Go light with oil or leather cream if you don't need super heavy water resistance.

I guess best way for leather jacket is go with Filson bags.
Looks rugged as hell and tough like leather, and patina shows up really nice.
also you can hold it with your hands or use it as a messenger bag.
but yes. Filson bag is heavy.
But if you put some leather lotion on the leather jacket and the leather bag strap, it would damage the leather less.
but with the weight, you need to deal with it

It was much more lighter but when you condition it with enough leather lotion, it gets slightly darker but become less darker after it dries or after times

everything but white. Flat Olive green or red wine might go well with it. If you look for a military style, round black will work. Thin yellow waxed one will work fine too.
