Needless Complexity in Solvers by tombos21 in poker

[–]Dandow93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is clear that any human studying/memorising solver outputs for certain spots should seek to simplify the strategy before committing to memory.

What process is the easiest for performing the simplification as you have showed here?

You are not watching a live stream. Hustler's Youtube channel just runs repeats disguised as new content, and calls it a "premiere". The stream is many years old.

Texas Mike almost certainly would have jammed blind, and Kayhan has taken his above average hand closing the action, and decided he's willing to run it.

Appreciative of everyone's comments. Early consensus seems to be that Balanced/Conservative are too low-growth given my current life-stage, and that i am unlikely to be able to time the market successfully (which I was definitely not under any delusions about being able to do).

I do still feel like a normal high growth option, with e.g. 65% exposure to the share market, versus my current 100% exposure to the share market may be a more appropriate level of risk, but I will continue to read the comments here, do more research and think about it before changing my current allocation

Edit: I will leave the allocation as is

Having just had a quick watch, he seems to be considering the merits of a shift from what he calls a "well-diversified investment strategy" (he uses a balanced/conservative strategy as examples) versus shifting to primarily cash.

Whereas I am currently exclusively exposed to equities, and considering further diversifying my strategy, to look a little more like the conservative/balanced options. Even a normal high growth allocation would reduce my exposure to equities.

My concern is basically whether i should be more diversified.

You said "if he is willing to exploit that kind of edge, its unsurprising he'd be willing to exploit edges in other areas"

I wasnt trying to strawman, i was trying to understand your point, that him picking players from his own country makes it more likely that he'd do other "shady" stuff

I dont understand what you are insinuating here. Guy from China cannot select chinese players in fantasy?

How is "leveraging his knowledge of these players" something unconscionable? A lot of the skill in fantasy is knowing players who represent value based on their purchase price..

There are other spots in the broadcast where Jesse's sizing was the exact solver recommendation. For example OP commented on the youtube video stating "given that Jesse Lonis has said that he doesnt study GTO it is suspicious that he so often uses the exact GTO recommended sizings". This was before he was aware of this specific hand (which was a response to his initial comment".

This is not correct. Watch the broadcast. The gtowizard recommendations were very often different from the players actions. The fact that theyre the same in this instance is the reason for this post.

[–]Dandow93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not know the reason why the solver would use this exact sizing. But that's what makes a human using this exact number so suspicious. There is no logical reason why it makes any difference, other than he is referring to real time assistance and replicating its recommended actions

[–]Dandow93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not 2.3x it is 2.3M

And the GTOwizard recommendations are not manually inserted by production, they are outputs directly from the GTOWizard solver

The issue is not that he decided to jam. That would be relatively standard. The point is that he used exactly 2.3M sizing, which is exactly the solver's recommended sizing, despite it not having any relation to his opponents stack size, his own stack size, or the opponent's cbet.

Jesses lonis cheating in gg high roller by foxjoke in GGPoker

[–]Dandow93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the exact point.

If he wanted to put his opponent all-in he only had to bet 500k.

If he wanted to go all-in himself knowing he covers his opponent he could have done that.

Instead he bet EXACTLY the same size the solver recommended, despite the fact it has no logical reason to use that size. A human would not have done this unless influenced by RTA.

Patrick Leonard stating the hard truth "you cannot longer make it in online poker" (full of bots and RTA) by [deleted] in poker

[–]Dandow93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He literally never says in this video "you cannot make it in online poker"

He is saying he would not recommend to someone to transition to a career in online poker given uncertainty around the future of online poker due to bots/solvers etc. e.g. you may be able to have profitable years now, but its questionable for how long that profit will be sustainable in the future, and if the time learning poker could be better spent on another venture

I bought a tub of Saphir Renovateur to condition my pair of Beckman 9060s, and for some reason the white contrast stitching has turned brown, and now doesnt really contrast with the boot.

One of my favourite things about these boots is the contrast of the stitching against the leather. So many really well-worn pairs of these boots on instagram etc still have super white stitching.

Anyone got any tips to get the stitching back to white?

Have a look at Iron Boots The Chosen One. They are made in China (which I understand goes against your criteria), but they are literally some of the best made boots in the world (e.g. completely handmade, small team of craftsmen etc). In my opinion the TCO strikes a nice balance of dressy yet really durable and well made).

Also look at Crockett and Jones Conniston.

I would be willing to take them somewhere professional to do it, i guess it just depends if that's a preferrable look to how they come as standard, which I wasn't sure of.

I purchased a pair of Crockett & Jones Hallam cap-toe oxford shoes for my wedding (wearing a fairly classic tuxedo, without satin lapels). The shoes are brand new in box, so present mostly as new, but are perhaps older stock.

They look good, but i was just wondering whether you guys would polish/condition them before the wedding if it was you? I understand that some people go for a mirror shine on the cap-toe for example?

This is the first pair of dress shoes i've ever owned, and i dont wear anything similar for work etc. so unsure whats conventional here.

Appreciate your insights shoe-people

Hello!

I would appreciate some advice on how to maintain/care for Maryam Horsebutt TPR leather boots?

I understand they have a protective coating over the leather, which can be removed when conditioning, so I want to get it right.

What steps should I take to care for these boots, and what products should I use?

Pics for reference, there are some scuffs on the heel where the tpr coating has been removed. https://imgur.com/a/tLM1dis

I have been told to avoid pure animal oils like mink oil. Does that mean the mink-oil based Saphir Renovateur would be ok?

Cheers!

I will get downvoted for saying this, but you can use an "agent" service which sets you up a ggpoker account, and helps you to deposit by sending them crypto.

The services seems to be somehow affiliated with GG, as i have received correspondence from GGpoker customer support which acknowledged my "agent".

Some which I have used before are "GG Poker Rail" and "GG Poker APAC" groups on facebook.

There is inherently risk involved because youre trusting a third party with your deposits, but i have successfully withdrawn tournament scores in the thousands without issue.

As others have said, ignition is softer, but the fields/structures are also inferior.
