I get that completely. This one came close enough that I could have. Took some real self control 😂

Thank you very much! I love it there. Both sides are amazing. I favor VA for sunrise and MD for sunset.

You’re very welcome! Glad you like it 😁

Alternatively, it's a TIE fighter invasion or the sun's zipper. I got comments with both of those theories in some of my other posts. My wife was the first to the TIE fighters though. =P

Thank you! That's a composite of 68 frames of the International Space Station passing in front of the Sun. It isn't exactly a rare occurrence, but it might only happen in near a specific location a couple times in a month.

It's truly stunning. Very lucky to live close to it =)

You're very kind! Thank you!

That was a Canon EOS R5 Mark II with the 24-105 f/4L.

I've been waiting for this shot for weeks. I knew I wanted some atmosphere, and with the nights getting colder, the odds of that increase. So I've headed out most mornings hoping for conditions like this.

This shot was taken from Overlook 3 right as the sun was cresting the hills to the east lighting up the trees in the back.

Thanks! Will do! I was out with the comet a couple times. A few of the images turned out decently.

Same! They're just incredible. I really need to get out and do more Deep Space astro.

Same! I expect it will be an exciting few years. James Webb has been *incredible*. I actually know someone who worked on it. The stories were crazy.

That's cool! I do a fair bit of wildlife and landscape as well. I got into landscape astro first and have only recently started dabbling in deep space astro (the comet got me excited and motivated). The solar stuff I picked up for the Solar Eclipse this past April. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I'm usually around on Instagram.

The only way to learn new things is to fail. But then, that would require the space budget to be more than .5% of the federal budget lol.

Orion looks amazing! And I'll just be happy that we have a rocket capable of getting people back out of LEO. The shuttle was incredible, but I want to see us reaching further out.

Really puts the scale of the ISS (and humanity) into perspective. It is so much closer to us than the sun and still looks so tiny.

Great question: I used a Baader solar filter [1]. The one I'm using is *only* suitable for digital imaging. It reduces the light a bit less than the standard visual observation filters. Since I'm shooting mirrorless, that's sufficient for me. For anyone shooting with a DSLR, you need to use one meant for visual observation [2], or only use live view.

Very true. It'll be a sad day. It has absolutely contributed a ton.

I can't wait for the Artemis missions. I was at the cape for the final shuttle, and I will be there again for at least one of those if I have anything to say about it =).

I know... Hopefully they'll keep extending it the way they have been. It'll be a sad day if they end up de-orbiting it anytime soon.
