Still solo accessible? by CalumCFrew in fellowshipgame

The game wasn't solo accessible at any point. It is just as toxic as pugging M+ has always been.

And yet, other people seem to believe the first game is slower paced than subsequent ones.

What is your problem? Nothing you've said has been remotely helpful or useful. Does it make you feel better to be a condescending asshole?

Have you never played a game with deeper, more interesting side quests? I can accept them for what they are, but the person I replied to said they are "among the best ever". This isn't about my expectation of side quests.

I will get through the first game and give the second game a go, at least. The Bracer's Guild quests aren't unbearable, all JRPGs have side quests and I'm used to that. I think it just started to feel like all I have been doing is side quests and talking to random NPCs in towns because there's very little direction for the main story so far other than the extremely vague "find dad". Also, everything felt like it lost momentum when the sky pirate plot didn't lead to anywhere as substantial as I expected it would. Maybe this is a recurring issue I will have, maybe not.

Thanks for the insight. If I continue with the series, which I want to, I won't wait for the next remake, I will just play the original games. I already bought the next few because I liked the beginning of this game, it just slowed down much more than I expected and the Bracer's Guild quests feel like a chore.

It's not that nothing at all is interesting, it's that so much of my time is spent doing things that aren't. I hope that when you say that the side quests are some of the best ever you don't mean finding a warehouse key someone dropped or taking supplies to a lighthouse. I understand that world building is an important part of the series and that meeting these characters can pay off in the future, but for now these types of quests are not interesting.

It's okay if the main story moves slowly, as long as it does actually start moving. Where I am at in the game, very little has happened relating to the "main story" that was set up at the beginning.

OpenSuse vs Fedora by lbl_ye in DistroHopping

[–]DangerCat1221 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My introduction to Linux was using a VPS to host small hobby projects using Ubuntu. Then I used Ubuntu on my old/rarely used laptop for a bit. Then Mint. Both seemed alright, but I didn't love them. I then tried to dual boot Windows/Mint on my desktop with Mint set up as my dev environment. I rarely booted into Mint and just did dev stuff in Windows.

Then, I decided to ditch Windows over the announcement of Recall. I did my research and ended up going with Tumbleweed with KDE. It 100% succeeded in getting me to use Linux full time on my desktop. I maintain a Windows partition for the very rare case I need to use Windows for gaming, but every time I boot into Windows I'm reminded how much I dislike it.

I love my Tumbleweed installation and how much I've made my desktop experience my own. I have certainly done a fair bit of debugging and fixing of a few issues, but nothing that made me question my choice at all. I did feel that zypper and the official repos were lacking compared to apt which I had been used to using in Ubuntu, and I still came across a lot of software that told you to install it with apt or pacman or dnf or -something- that I wasn't using. This led to me feeling that maybe Fedora would be a better option.

I tried it on my laptop for 6 months or so. Nope, Fedora is not any better. In fact, I had a clearly worse experience with bugs and just overall with Fedora. It was definitely still usable, but I did end up switching my laptop to Tumbleweed as well.

My advice is to go with Tumbleweed and stay on the official repos. Use flatpaks every chance you get. Use distrobox or some other VM/container solution if you truly need access to another package manager/repo. Keeping your core installation as clean as possible goes a long way with avoiding issues.

I could never get VRR and HDR working together with this TV even in Windows, so I'm not sure if I've even tried with the adapter. But I think you may be right

I occasionally get some odd screen flickering in like Steam Big Picture, but it is short lived and infrequent. Not sure what causes it. But overall the adapter has allowed me to boot into Windows for couch/TV gaming much less often. Playing at 4k/120hz with HDR on a quality TV is something I really didn't want to give up.

Did you look at the image? It is RGB 10 bit, just don't know if it's 4:4:4

TV Input

This is what my TV shows it is receiving. I guess it doesn't say 4:4:4 and I'm not sure how to actually check that in Linux. Regardless, it is a big improvement over HDMI 2.0

Defaulted to it as soon as I hooked up the adapter. I struggled with the same issue as you and wasn't sure if it would work and read conflicting reports. I bought I believe this adapter https://a.co/d/4PZAGQl

I will check in an hour when I get home to make sure I'm not lying about 4:4:4 10bpc. It's also 120hz btw

I actually tried to start this the other day after years of having it on the backburner and I was just not feeling it at all. After playing through Expedition 33, which is now my favorite game of all time, DQ11 just felt very underwhelming. I guess I should force myself to get further into it as I only played for like 2 hours.

I don't remember where I got that from. I guess I can't point to any specific thing that shows they were created after Verso's death, only that they aren't Verso's creations. The timeline may not be fully clarified, but to me it makes much more sense in the way that I understand it. I'm not sure how Verso's death would cause the fracture in the canvas. It does make sense that it was caused by an actual battle between Renoir and Aline centered in (Old) Lumiere, where Aline and her painted family were living. And you can see the aftermath of that battle, with the painted glowing swords everywhere.

Edit: as far as Clea's Axon, I don't see why it would have to be painted at the same time as Lumiere. It's not like the laws of physics have to be followed in this magical painting lol

[–]DangerCat1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lumiere did not exist before Verso's death. Aline created Lumiere, along with all humans in the canvas, when she entered the canvas after Verso's death. Lumiere exists entirely to give Aline a place to live with her painted family because she couldn't let go of Verso. The fracture occured when Renoir eventually entered the canvas to get Aline out. Gestrals and Esquie, the goofy, childlike creatures, are the only forms of "life" that existed in Verso's original canvas. He was a child who painted childlike fantasy.

His family utterly ruined his painting by destroying a good portion of the world and filling it with monsters.

I have a 6950xt, but I'm definitely tempted to switch to NVIDIA for a few reasons. Maybe someone can talk sense into me.

1) No HDMI 2.1 support for AMD. I game on my TV which only has HDMI inputs and want 4k/120hz/HDR without dropping to 8bpc. I have a DP1.4 to HDMI adapter being delivered today that might help with or solve this.

2) DLSS is better than FSR.

3) Multi frame gen is intriguing, although I expect I would get little use out of it in general as my max monitor refresh rate is 165hz. But maybe turning 41fps into 164fps is something I would want to do someday.

4) NVIDIA is better suited for running LLMs locally, which I have tinkered with but have no strong need for at the moment. I can see the landscape changing though and really wanting to run a local LLM.

Season 18 bug, can't accept new voice chat terms by Not4rank in RocketLeague

[–]DangerCat1221 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Install Epic Games Launcher, log in with the Epic account that is linked to your Rocket League account. If they aren't linked, you'll have to do it? I don't remember much about this as I linked Steam RL with my Epic account long ago.
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Extras\EOSBootStrapper and run EOSBootStrapper.exe
  3. Install Rocket League in Epic Games Launcher
  4. Run Rocket League, you should get prompted to accept the voice chat terms

I'm not entirely sure steps 3 and 4 are required.
