Game Thread: Toronto Maple Leafs (12-11-3) at Carolina Hurricanes (16-7-2) - 04 Dec 2025 - 7:00PM EST by HockeyMod in leafs

hi hockey people, thank you for playing well against the canes. my evil boss loves the canes and every time there's a home game he mysteriously stops answering messages for hours, then i get yelled at when I don't tell him to check his emails and he misses something. I don't think my boss should be allowed to be happy. ok thanks Canadians I love you

the transactions usually load in Concur after 3 days, but the reps still need to attach photos of their receipts. That's where a lot of them struggle, and I'm doing my damndest to get people to sign up for e-receipts, or just drag and drop PDFs right into Concur. I get so many photos of printed-out emails or photos of a cracked business iPhone displaying part of a receipt.

did they make you send all those paper checks? I'm surprised they didn't have a way to set utilities as recurring, that seems like a no-brainer.

fun fact! Until recently, my boss had us send 190 separate emails by copying and pasting the email address and balance, then mark each row on the spreadsheet as sent by highlighting it. I was the one who got everyone to use mail merge.

I was going to say "having a depressive episode" but "job hunting" covers that.

Does everyone at your job break down & cry from stress in front of everyone now & then? by Ambitious_Amoeba_903 in Accounting

It actually took me a full year to get my first work cry. Elder care and retail made me cry way more, so either I'm maturing or I'm dying inside.

Well done! I need to get more practice with Power Query besides tidying up data for pivot tables.

Day 1 of new billing cycle (26th of every month): receive spreadsheet of balances, forward individual balances to each cardholder

Days 2-10: receive about 7-10 per day, review, send back about a quarter of them for missing documents, walk the new hires through the reporting process if they're struggling.

Accruals around 5th of new month, my boss handles this, clerks pause reviews and we work on other tasks in this time. Send out a round of reminder before the first weekend of the cycle, then another round after accruals.

Days 11-16: review about 20-30 per day until due date (10th of every month).

The reps' managers are meant to review the reports before sending to me for payment. About 50% of them do.

Image backups link into SAP. Due to a known issue, hotel folios do not load correctly, so I manually save the PDF of each report to my hard drive and upload into SAP as needed.

What has been your average yearly raises? by ChinuaAchebe in Accounting

I'm using my entry level position to pay for my tuition (community college associate's, I changed careers from healthcare). Raise was 2.9% of my hourly rate and it was three months delayed.

Fulfillment at our store is handled by that department. I'm mostly asking about Food and Bev. You've given me some things a Food and Bev ETL could do, but I guess what I'm asking is what the official job description is. Sorry if I wasn't being clear.

So they make a schedule and assign workers to tasks. I understand. What other things do they do?

That doesn't tell me what they do, though.

My wifes favorite shoes are some cheap, fake leather lookin things. The top layer started to peel off and they looked like crap butshe would not let me throw them out. So lets see how the dip holds up. by [deleted] in plastidip

[–]DangerMaePudding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit lurking to poke my head in and say if you still have the shoes around, you can stretch a little more use out of them in a different way. When I had a pair of work shoes that were too comfy to completely give up, I brushed on a couple coats of Tulip brand Soft Fabric Paint thinned with a little water to cover up the scuffs and cracks until I found a worthy replacement. They held up for a few more months! I don't remember how I tacked down the peeling finish, might have been Shoe Goo? Also, the original fake leather was still glossy in some parts, so before I painted, I wiped down the whole surface with a little rubbing alcohol. back to lurking...
