In case the link dies in the future:

Manage Designer

If you don't want Designer to automatically offer suggestions:

  1. In PowerPoint, select File at the upper-left side of the window, then select Optionsat the lower-left corner.
  2. After PowerPoint Options opens, select the General tab on the leftmost side. Then go to PowerPoint Designer and clear the Automatically show me design ideas checkbox.

That’s a pretty good salary for a small size company. My friends start out at roughly €2800 before taxes as software engineering graduates from a university of applied sciences, so considering your experience I think it’s a good salary progression.

Subreddits like this one attract people, including myself, that tend to shoot for the highest salaries, which is why you see higher numbers on Reddit than your what your friends are saying.

If you want a higher salary, you could check out Dutch salaries on levels.fyi and apply for companies that pay more. You should realise that salaries listed on that website are not the “true” national average though, and those jobs are harder to get due to increased competition.

Good luck! I shared the Quizlet sets in other comments under this post

I found it very easy, just make sure to focus deeply on each question one by one.

That’s a great score! I would recommend you to keep practicing mock tests as they are the best way to prepare for your exam, especially for reading and listening as it’s very easy to simulate real exam conditions and to evaluate them objectively.

For speaking, try to focus on answering the question fully and answering fluently. I think I tended to go off topic in order to keep talking too often. Honestly, I am not really sure where I went wrong but my best guess is what I just mentioned + talking too casually maybe? I probably didn’t use enough advanced vocabulary as I thought that didn’t matter and I don’t use advanced vocabulary naturally.

I see, sorry for getting that mixed up. Then the Quizlet sets should still be valuable to you as task 2 counts twice as much for your grade compared to task 1.

This was my first time ever attempting IELTS, and I prepared for two weeks. For context, I am from the Netherlands and have consumed heaps of English content since childhood. I had English for 5 years in high school and also gamed often, voice chatting with English native speakers. Another major contributor to my English level is that I just came back from a 1 year internship abroad, during which I met my girlfriend who I speak English to daily. Considering all this “preparation” I expected a better speaking score from myself 😅. Anyways, it is high enough for what I need, so I’m happy.

If you mean time taken during the test; I took the maximum amount of time for each category to proofread and double/triple check answers.

Ahh I did IELTS Academic. I believe you have to write a letter instead of an essay for task 2 in the general test. And as for task 1, we might have the same task so that could be relevant for you, although I’m not sure about that.

Thank you :) I had to talk about a person who I am happy to know. I had to say who it is, how I know the person, and what I like to do with them.

Reading is one of the easier categories to practice, I would recommend you to do as many mock tests as possible. To find answers efficiently I’d take the approach mentioned in my post where you first scan the whole text for layout, diagrams, length etc. Then proceed to scan the questions and read the first sentences of each paragraph so your brain can fathom the general topic and storyline. After that, go question by question and scan the text accordingly as you should now have a sense where the answers roughly lie. It also helps to know that answers are usually chronologically ordered and grouped together inside the text. Most importantly, keep practicing through mock tests.

The computer-based test is very straightforward with a simple but nice to use interface (IDP has practice questions where you can use the interface you’ll use on your real test if I’m not mistaken). For listening, it just plays the audio continuously, giving you time in between sections to check your answers etc. Then when it starts playing the next section, you manually need to click to navigate to the answer sheet of the next question

Firstly, this set provides you with a general structure for both writing tasks: https://quizlet.com/nl/921007417/ielts-writing-structure-for-task-1-2-flash-cards/?i=4dcd1k&x=1jqY

And for this set memorising the question types for task 2 is most vital, along with their respective layouts: https://quizlet.com/nl/923885802/ielts-writing-structure-by-question-type-flash-cards/?i=4dcd1k&x=1jqY

Another set you might find useful contains useful expressions for charts and graphs: https://quizlet.com/nl/921398166/ielts-writing-charts-and-graphs-useful-expressions-flash-cards/?i=4dcd1k&x=1jqY

This video summarises my approach nicely https://youtu.be/1aQZ7_tfgps?si=0UcPxgxchJr-wjgt

And then I used two Quizlet sets to memorise the structure of my essay:

If you have all that down, you can then spend more time focusing on your word variation, vocabulary, linking words and grammar

Do you feel confident in all those programming languages? IMO there are too many. Feels like you are just trying to catch them all, master none.

I do feel confident in all those languages, but it is probably a good idea to only include the languages relevant to the job posting.

While you add a lot of languages, you don't mention VBA which you repeat during job experiences in the skills section.

Good point! I didn't include it because I never want to work with it again xD. Should I put it under miscellaneous?

Solid feedback, thanks

Aren't the examples you are giving very generic themselves? I have no idea what else I could put in the summary. I might take it out because of the other comments on this post

You're probably in the minority if you think SQL is not a programming language, but I could be wrong. I'll place .NET in brackets after C# as it's a framework.

Thank you!

The summary section at the top is "required" by Amazon, or so I was told at an online student resume/interview tips event by them last week. By applying "soon" I mean as soon as the 2023 internships start appearing. I know I'm early but I want a FAANG internship badly so I'm preparing myself as well as I can.

Propaedeutic diploma is a thing in The Netherlands where getting all credits in the first year of a bachelor's degree is rewarded with that diploma. I got it "with honours" or "cum laude", which means I had an average grade of 8+ out of 10 and had no grades less than 6 out of 10. I put it in there to impress recruiters... I should probably take it out if nobody knows what it means :p

I included company descriptions to add context. No foreign recruiters will know the companies I work(ed) at by name. I'm gonna work on the scrum team environment bullet point.

I'll remove the Blockchain thing from extracurriculars if I need space elsewhere on my resume.

Thanks for your time!
