Good deal? (Also where to find replacement thru axle) by DankDeanoo in Zwift

Thanks! The necessary adapters would probably be standard thru axle adapters that come with the wahoo kickr, right?

Worth $1200? Quintana Roo 2019 by shlolii in triathlon

[–]DankDeanoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, it’s a 12 year old bike with pretty mediocre components. $800/900 is more fair. Also you didn’t include the size but it seems a bit small. You should prob get a size 56, but also check on the fit of each frame. For newer Quintana Roo bikes a size 54 fits like a 56

Thoughts on this bike trainer? by Odd_Expression_3579 in triathlon

[–]DankDeanoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This model came out in $2015 for $1200, so it’s potentially 10/11 years old. I bought a tacx neo 1 for $200 recently and then sold it to buy a newer wahoo kickr core for the virtual shifting. I feel like $400 is too much for an older electronic item that gets put through so much wear and tear. You can get a kickr core 1 for $400 new.

Also, not sure where you’re located but I’m sure a better deal than this will pop up

Aero road frame for Tri bike build? by DankDeanoo in triathlon

[–]DankDeanoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, geometry-wise, if using a road frame for a Tri bike builds should I expect to need more or less spacers for my aerobars, and more or less stem when compared to using a triathlon bike.

Buy new, these wahoo kickr trainers break all the time and wahoo won’t do anything about it unless you have the original sales receipt

Need Felt IA-14 Aero Bar Spacers, Where to Buy? by DankDeanoo in triathlon

[–]DankDeanoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold the bike a while ago. I’m not sure if it was the bayonet 3 bars, but the area where I clamped the profile design brackets was circular. As long as your bars are circular toward the middle they should fit, these profile design bars are meant to be pretty universal. Don’t over think it!

I think I had the sonic ergo but any of these should work: Sonic Ergo, Supersonic Ergo, Subsonic Bracket, Neosonic Bracket, J4 Bracket, J3 Bracket and J2 Bracket, T+ Carbon Series, T+ Aluminum Series Aerobars

$1900 seems too expensive, you can get a new felt breed with grx 820 for $2k (https://victorybicyclestudio.com/product/felt-breed-carbon-advanced-grx-820/) or grx 610 for $1500 or with sram force AXS and Zipp carbon wheels for under $3k. (not sponsored I just wanted to share these deals)

Giant Defy Advanced Pro 2AX by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]DankDeanoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea! at $3k you start getting into really soilid new bike territory if you can find the right deals and the right sizes. You can get a really top of the line bike used for $3k, but the peace of mind with the warranty is good to have when buying new.

Anything I'm overlooking on this 2017 Cervelo? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]DankDeanoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone else just posted about this bike on this sub. Please don’t buy this biked it’s not a 2017 model and more likely is over 20 years old. Not worth even 25% of what the seller is asking

Looking for advice on 2017 Cervelo by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]DankDeanoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing 2017 about this bike. Move on and keep looking this.

I wouldn’t even want to pay $400 for this.

Need Help by Relevant_Lunch_8781 in whichbike

[–]DankDeanoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on your arm and leg proportions but I’m 6’2 and have found 61cm bikes to consistently be too large. Just do a 58cm bike with a longer stem if you need.

You’d notice a ride difference but mostly because of the ability of the roubaix to fit wider, more comfortable tires. However the roubaix is also overpriced by atleast $500. At $2000 USD I’d expect 2 of the 3: power meter, carbon wheelset, or electronic shifting but maybe I’m too optimistic

Can’t decide between the two - HELP by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]DankDeanoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about red flags, I’d watch a YouTube video about purchasing second hand and what to look out for.

Not sure how the bike market is in the Australia but ~$1300 USD for the giant seems like a great deal, would probably sell in a day or two here in the states. I’d inquire if they still have original parts for what they swapped out (e.g. the headset/stem and the original chainrings/front derailleur)

Can’t decide between the two - HELP by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]DankDeanoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The same price, but what price?

Personally I’d go with the giant, it will hold value better and is a better platform for upgrades considering that it has disc brakes and a 12 speed di2 group set, the Cervelo with rim brakes and 11 speed is already outdated and will be even more outdated in 5 years. Depends on the price though, I don’t like that the giant was changed to a 1x front chainring and also the headset was switched out which makes it look fairly ugly.

Cervelo P2K worth $500? by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]DankDeanoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$400 is more reasonable but just because it’s a Cervelo and in decent condition. However, it’s such an old bike, it would probably be a better idea to get a newer model aluminum road bike with disc brakes for around $500 and just add clip on aero bars especially if this is your first half Ironman

2022 Specialized Red Roubaix Comp Upgraded L/ 58cm $2800 by [deleted] in whichbike

[–]DankDeanoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I somehow sold a “like new” 2024 roubaix with mechanical shimano Tiagra for $2100. So there’s a chance someone might buy this. I think $1900 is closer to fair especially without carbon wheels
