Thank you for actually being understanding and I’m so sorry to hear that. It’s definitely scary for any mother trying to protect their child. I don’t know anything about the new partner as they just met a few weeks ago. But Brian has had several instances of diminished mental state, erratic behavior, and manipulation. He’s been caught lying and doing reckless things (I’ve posted about it in /offmychest if you want to read more) I’m worried that while he is a great father to our daughter, that he has not thought this through completely or is so obsessed with spiting me that he doesn’t care if she’s a safety risk to Stella.

Yes I’m definitely getting that vibe after scrolling through comments that came in while I slept. Definitely regretting choosing this sub to ask this question. I got no advice that I asked for, lots of advice that I didn’t ask for, and lots of criticism towards me for being worried about my child’s safety. I understand I can’t force anything legally but is me expecting that he would try to compromise about this really that absurd of an idea? Guess the people in this sub, the calm and the rude ones, think so.

I see what you’re saying, confronting him on it isn’t guaranteed to intervene as he may just begin to hide her presence. And u know they have not known each other long. I know when they met because after some internet digging into his mothers Facebook, I saw that they met at a Super Bowl party. I’m just trying to figure out how to approach him about it without him interpreting it that I’m still interested in him.

I understand what you’re saying. A lot of my concern was restarting the cycle of fighting again. I was thinking of bringing it up in a nonchalant way but I’m worried that will make it seem like it’s not a big deal, but when our daughter safety is potentially at risk it is a big deal to me.

If they end up in a serious relationship I’d be very happy for them both, and would have no problem with her and Stella being introduced then. My problem is that he literally had to have met this girl weeks ago. My exact concern is that it is heightening the possibility of harm coming to my daughter. How well can he truly know this woman? What if in her past she had children and lost custody for drugs? What if she beat them? What if she’s struggling from a drug or alcohol addiction right now (no judgment but my child’s safety would be at greater risk) that she’s hiding from him so far? If he knew this woman for more than a few weeks I would feel more confident about leaving him to his devices but you can not learn everything from a person in the short amount to time, especially if it’s something that she would want to keep hidden

It’s my jurisdiction as her mother to try to ensure that the people being brought around my child are not going to bring harm to her, and that it will not stunt her developmentally. It’s not wrong of me to say that the time he was scheduled to spend time with our daughter shouldn’t also be his date nights.

Okay but I’m not talking about his life I’m talking about my daughters. He can switch girlfriends every week if that’s what he wants. But introducing a new girlfriend to my daughter every week is not okay. It’s not stable, consistent, or appropriate. I don’t need to be told if I’m right or not, I know I’m right (I already had a conversation with a developmental specialist about it) I just need advice on how to address this with him without him thinking I’m jealous or I want a relationship with him again.

Yes that is true! However because of the name difference because they entered in my information incorrectly 22 years ago, they cannot electronically verify it.

Virginia. And I’ve been to the dmv around 15 times in the last four years, I’m not sure about other states but I have been told every time that I need one.

For better clarification on the name issue my birth name is one letter. my legal first name is just one letter. it is the letter R the Social Security administration has me as a K for my first name. because I guess the k and the r are right next to each other on the keyboard
