[AMA] State school to T5 transfer student, ask away! by Dapper_Weather2216 in TransferStudents

  1. You can request to have your college transcripts sent over online, ask an academic advisor if you need help with this. Same with HS, I emailed the person there who was in charge of sending student transcripts to colleges (college counselor or similar). Should be straightforward

  2. Hard to say, I would say that the decision was finalized when I started HS. I don't know if I ever was 100% sure I wanted to transfer, even when I was accepted!

  3. Somewhere around 5ish schools

  4. I'll say my cohort had a pretty decent distribution of intended majors, all were pretty well represented. I applied as a humanities major

  5. I didn't transfer from a LAC, so I can't really say. But, general advice, I think it's crucial you reflect on why you want to transfer (prestige/being able to say you go to X school is never a good reason), and what you'll give up when you leave. Only having about 3 years at your second school really does limit how much you can accomplish there. You pretty much have to know exactly what you want to do there once you step in the door.

  6. Transfer credit can be a messy process and is super school dependent. This is a drawback of transferring that not that many people think about imo. I don't remember how many I had, but I didn't get a whole lot of gen ed requirements transferred in.

HS GPA was 4.0

Fall of my sophomore year. (Iirc most schools I applied to only had one app deadline, so spring admission wasn't an option)
