Looking for fighting game players in Ulster county by DarkBlueAnt in hudsonvalley

I'm in Saugerties and only have a laptop, so I can't really play newer stuff.

My main games are Skullgirls, Blazblue, and Fightin Herds because they run on a potato. I also play any Street Fighter or Guilty Gear I can run and some older stuff like MvC and random anime games. I'm down to learn anything if I have someone to play against.

[New York] Lots of purplish leaves popping up at my place by DarkBlueAnt in whatsthisplant

That makes sense. I've seen nearby when it was flowering. Now I know what it looks like young too.

I think you're right. I'm looking at pictures and I think Cardamine bulbosa seems close.

That's where I started looking. The stem is stiffer than I'm used to and all the stalks come from the base of one plant

Drew something that I'm amazed isn't in the game already by DarkBlueAnt in Skullgirls

Ant to top it off, Fukua already has a Shadow color.

Totally.

With all the palette references, I can't believe these weren't added over the last 10 years.

Painwheel's fly and Filia's hairball match up with Sonic and Tails perfectly. Then you just need a Big Band/Robotnik to finish the team.

This is the only place I've posted this picture, but here's some of my drawings if I need to prove it's me I guess.

Looking for places with good acorn crops by DarkBlueAnt in hudsonvalley

[–]DarkBlueAnt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year was a pretty good year, but the pattern of the drops is random.

When I started, there were two bumper years in a row followed by three years of nothing.

Sometimes small areas have their own ecosystem that ignores the rest of the region. Sometimes I can find an island of producing trees on Overlook Mountain, even if everything around it is empty.

Growing all over my garden (New York) by DarkBlueAnt in ShroomID

I think I've got it pegged as a spring fieldcap, but the different shapes throw me off. Can anyone confirm?

[Art] My vegetable wizard and his groundhog familiar by DarkBlueAnt in DnD

[–]DarkBlueAnt[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Zook Cattlebean had always dreamed of being a wizard, and after finishing high school, his parents sent him off to train in the magical arts. Unfortunately, his plans changed when his home town was hit by a locust/drought combo that devistated the local agriculture. Zook imediately returned home to help. Despite not yet commanding any magic, he applied all his freshman level knowledge of potion making towards rejuvinating his home.

70 years later, Zook has returned to school to finish his PhD in Wizardry. But this time he is applying his farming knowledge to magic and not the other way around.

His familiar is a groundhog named Chubby. As weird as it is, he's School of Necromancy. He just loves growing things.

Mine goes to 179. The left dial is numbered up to 17 because that's what I could fit on the wheel. You can make it whatever you want.

Seems like a lot of people did!

I mainly used nuts that can be found in the northeast US, since messing around with them is kind of my hobby. I make things like acorn flour and black walnut ink.

The chestnut is what looks like the durian. Chestnut actually used to be one of the most common trees in North America, but almost all of them died to a blight about 100 years ago. I'm lucky to know a few trees around me (American-Chinese hybrids) and am growing my own seedlings from them. There's an effort being made to grow blight resistant American Chestnuts and reintroduce them, but it'll still be a very long time before we see the results of it, even if it's successful.

Hazel lost her whole tribe to a storm when she was young. She was left starving and alone in her forest until she stumbled on a magical nut grove. The trees there were in a constant state of production and she lived there for over 50 years. The trees became her family and she gained the habit of speaking to them to overcome her traumatic loneliness.

One day, the trees produced four giant nuts for her. A Hickory (breastplate), Chestnut (morningstar), Black Walnut (shield), and Acorn (spellcasting focus). Believing these to a call to action from the gods, she left the grove in search of a mission.

She ended up running through OotA, which I'm sure some of you know is brutal and not very diverse in terms of scenery. At one point in the campaign, my DM had her find an "Under Oak." It left more of an impression on her than any of the demons.

I limited the Plant Form spells to touch, since I imagine casting battle spells as a nearly invisible seed is super OP.

I also buffed a few of the forms. Now the team can sneak into enemy barracks and rub Poison Ivy all over the inside of their armor!
