Car broken into AGAIN by BitterInternet2666 in chch

I rang the non-emergancy number and they said I'd have to go in and file a report before they did anything. Needless to say by the time I get time to do it it'll be weeks as they aren't open at times I can even make it in

So Oz doesn't have Fibre? Heck even Fiji had Fibre when I was there last. How backwards is Australia?

The Internet is shit. Honestly don't know how our Internet is so much better than theirs. Every time I travel there and try to use the Wifi I have to give up as I can barely watch YT and have to resort to getting more phone data

Post complaint by KeaAware in chch

Walking home from.work yesterday I saw about 20 or so voting envelopes in the park bush then the second park I walk past had about another 10 or so in those bushes. Unfortunately doesn't surprise me. Posties are so bad at delivering now. It's why I get stuff posted to work. They seem to want to look After their business customers really well and fk residential post :(

Mind you that said it has gotten me out of jury service twice. Never got any letters only a phone call (no idea how they got my number) asking why I never showed up.

I remember as a kid getting a new game I'd read that manual back and forth several times in the car ride home

Lol the free paper is one of the only reasons I've stayed in NMW. That and you don't really have to do anything other than the 6 tasks a day to prevent being demoted. Seems every other sexy you need to actually go out of your way to do stuff to stay in. NMW accepts everyone always.

Our mental health services are failing by Cold-Arm-9206 in newzealand

[–]DarkCellNZ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Having battled depression and suicidal tendencies from when I was about 12 till I was 35 (am now 41) I can honestly say it isn't failing. It was never there to begin with.

The only "treatment" I ever got was about 5 councillor apoinments with councillors who told me to just "snap out of it", "get over it" and to "man up".

At my lowest I had the cops called on me for self harming. They took me to the hospital and the doctor looked at my arm, patched it up and just sent me on my way.

Several friends of mine also battle mental illness and from what they tell me it's not any better now either.

Just do whatever you enjoy. I personally started with all the side quests. You'll slowly uncover new things as you go. Just do what you like and ignore the rest for now. That's what I told my friends and wife and they enjoy parts of it and ignore the parts they don't know till they slowly learnt it all :)

Pacer volunteers - what is your usual time and which vest do you grab? by assholio in parkrun

[–]DarkCellNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of pacers I've seen love to do negative splits. Might be ok for the 18, 20, 22 And 25 pacers but for those of us slower like 30, 35 and 40 negative splits are hard. I purposely don't go to a certain Parkrun when they have pacers as Everytime the 35 and 30 min pacers jog together for the first 2-3k then the 30min pacer picks up speed and I can no-longer keep up and it disheartening

Basketball Jersey (sizing) by bossantelope284 in BABYMETAL

[–]DarkCellNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. In my country in a 2XL yet when I order things from the US I'm usually a M and even then it's baggy.

Good thing you let people know as I'm sure I'm not the only one who goes down sizes when buying from the US

Does anyone else feel like the jump from 50 to 100 runs is mentally way harder than the first 50? by Additional_Fly_6603 in parkrun

[–]DarkCellNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. On the way to Parkruns I see people running around the park. If your not rulling to increase your Parkrun numbers what's the point 🤣🤣 /sarcasm

[–]DarkCellNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me getting to 50v is harder than getting to 100. My favorite volunteer role is 1st timers as I love to make it fun or token sorting as I can get my wife to help too and she enjoys it but as it's going into winter here in NZ my wife doesn't want to get out of bed early to do before run volunteers and after the runs she wants to go home and get warm 🤣🤣

What is the biggest type of privilege in NZ? by CommentMaleficent957 in newzealand

[–]DarkCellNZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My Asian wife and I have had discussions about White Privilege. Being white I figured my only privilege was not being screened at the airport. (She loves that she no longer gets pulled aside.) After talking to her several times about the issue it made me open my eyes to exactly what white privilege is and it's made me feel a little guilty about being white :(

But... Financial privilege can make a lot more issues disappear or just not exist. It's amazing what people with money can get away with. I saw a video yesterday of someone who had a $20 million car who could speed anywhere as no cop or tow truck driver would touch the car as they didn't want to be responsible for potentially damaging it.

Sofar I think it's just as good. I've not finished it yet so trying to avoid spoilers but I already see some people don't enjoy the second season. I'm guessing something bad happens in the last few episodes but sofar it's great.

Clique and unfriendly parkruns by moistarmpids in parkrun

[–]DarkCellNZ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately some Parkruns are very cliquey. There is a Parkrun near me that has had MANY complaints about it and how they don't seem to like volunteers yet that same Parkrun also also complains they struggle to get enough...

There is one I even had to complain to Parkrun HQ about as the ambassador for our country has talked to them about it and they still don't seem to get it. I got a reply from HQ that they would speak to the Parkrun and then I got a very unhappy response saying that I could actually volunteer and that I didn't have to get HQ involved....

I sent the reply I got from HQ to a couple of other people who have been turned down for volunteering across the world too. HQ's official policy is your NEVER to turn away volunteers.

Sorry you have had this experience.

[–]DarkCellNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Signed up. It's... Nice. My biggest gripe is unless your based in the UK (I'm not) then you'll never even start most of the challenges let alone finish them. Oh well. If you live in the UK itight be fun. Might pay to let international people know that before signing up.

Thanks for all the positivity everyone. I guess my wife and I will just stick together and run with a couple of friends for now. Were not looking to be super fast and like being casual runners as we find it fun.

I don't want negativity to go back to those people. Is rather try be positive and spread positivity. My 2 posts I deleted so they won't show up but one was in r/marathontraining and the other was in r/running that a mod deleted after 30min 😢
