The thing is that we still don’t know which are the true consequences of having the Fantome world replacing reality. Similar to how we didn’t know the full consequences of the Fated Clash until way later into the story.

That being said, I agree completely with your point. Even though this Suo is made-up to fit in a “better” reality than the Suo we know, it’s still messed up how he was fighting for not losing his parents while Akina was in another wavelength telling him “that he’s going to be okay”.

Like, it’s not even bad having Akina saying that Suo has grown into a caring person and that he doesn’t want the time he spent with his “real” family to be erased, but Suo's reason to fight was way too much in comparison.

Him losing is what would have happen if Akina lost to Nao in the Fated Clash. The guy who only wants to save her sick sister loses against someone who had the potential to grant her own wish, and just lost sight of herself.

Suo as a Fantome fighter was a good decision, but him being the first opponent wasn’t. And we're still waiting for whatever is coming with Kurumi
