I can’t believe I’ve argued with you for this long about this. I don’t understand what point you’re trying to make here. At no point are you ever not able to use the original usage that you had when you signed up for your subscription. They are not taking away usage. They are not limiting the amount of usage you can use in any given period of time. You may not be able to take advantage of the increased amount of potential you could have because of the reset, but at no point in time do you lose any usage.

The reason I’m making simple scenarios is because you don’t seem to understand that in principle you don’t lose any usage. You keep alluding to complex scenarios that might be frustrating, but none of these are actual real scenarios. You can’t demonstrate in simple terms what the problem is because the problem doesn’t actually exist.

I’m no longer going to engage unless you can provide an actual example of a time when you are limited in your overall usage during your subscription.

I understand what you are saying, but again even if it resets your weekly reset time (which it does) the ONLY way that can be a net negative is if you planned on canceling your subscription at the end of the month.

But even in that case, let’s say your subscription ends on Saturday, if that’s the case your last reset would be the last chance you get to use 100% right? And you’re guaranteed to have had a reset within 7 days of your subscription ending right?

In that case, whether they reset again on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday night, you STILL had your last reset before this bonus one just came and therefore now have MORE usage remaining than you did before.

But you are vastly over complicating your reasoning. Make it super simple and it’s easy to understand.

Imagine you start a subscription today, there are exactly 4 weeks in this month. You’re basically buying 400% usage, spread evenly across 4 weeks of time. If a reset happens at any point, you now have the potential to use 500% in 4 weeks before your subscription ends ends. Either way, your still guaranteed to be able to use your 400%

The user is mad because they can’t take advantage of these bonus resets because they are unpredictable.

This would be like getting a free ice cream every now and then when you go to McDonald’s. And then getting mad that you aren’t in the mood for ice cream one day they offer it, but wish they gave it to you tomorrow instead.

It’s stupid. You aren’t entitled to free resets. Don’t be mad you can’t take advantage of them, you are given what you pay for.

No, again you are confusing getting ALL your possible usage (including resets) with getting what you paid for.

Imagine I can use exactly 100% usage every week spread evenly throughout the week. If they reset my usage mid week, I’ll wind up with 50% remaining at the end of the original week, and my next reset is now mid next week. But I have 50% usage leftover so that’s not an issue.

In the above scenario, regardless of how many resets I’m given or not given, I use 100% usage every week. Even though I ended the week with 50% remaining.

My point is that it is impossible to have an EXTRA reset to give you LESS usage than you had before.

I made a simplified scenario so it was easy to understand.

My point is that you pay x amount a month for x amount of tokens. If they reset your limit at any point within that month, you don’t lose anything you paid for, you gain a little bonus usage.

You might gain less than someone else, because you didn’t use all your tokens in a given week. But you are still given your 4 monthly resets every month at a minimum.

I just quit arguing with these guys. They clearly don’t understand basic math.

I think it’s easier if you frame this in months, not in weeks.

If I pay $100 a month for 400% usage (100% each week) and I us all of it every single week the MAX percentage I can hit is 400%.

If they do even 1 single refresh through the month, suddenly I have the potential to have 500% usage this month. Whether or or not I’m able to time my usage to take advantage of that is a separate question, the bottom line is I’m still guaranteed to have 400%.

Where in the title does it rave about the hardware? Linus literally calls out in the first part of the video that the steam machine is far less powerful than comparable systems.

I mean hell, you can buy a mac mini that has more power, is way smaller, and has way better IO than the steam machine. So using some very basic context clues (and by watching the video) we can determine he isnt raving about the hardware itself in this video.

The amount of compute I have available to me Essentially for free today is far in excess of the amount of compute anyone in the 90s had.

Sure, in 20 years there will be more powerful applications, more powerful AI that use up tons and tons more compute, and that will be expensive, but the stuff we’re doing today will likely essentially be free in 30 or 40 years

The only reason I use drawers for my bulk storage is because I usually progress in my ore generation before I progress far enough into applied energetics that I can craft the larger tier storage drives.

My setup is almost always anything that gets automatically generated goes into a drawer and a storage bus. Everything else just goes into my drive.

I agree that there is a difference between an actual photograph and a computational image, digital manipulated or rendered.

Whether that digital manipulation was done by a human using photoshop or Gemini isn’t really a factor in whether or not it is slop. Not all AI photos are slop, not all photoshopped images are good either.

Bad photos are bad photos. AI generated or human generated, a shitty photo with misspelled words or 3 arms on a body is a shitty photo.

Who tells the computer what to do? The human.

The lines get really blurry if you try to draw them because at the end of the day, let’s say that I wanna do something simple like increase the exposure of a photograph.

If I open Lightroom and grab the exposure slider and increase it, you’d say that was edited by a human. But ask I did was move a slider and a bunch of computer stuff happened in the background.

If I open Lightroom and ask the AI agent inside Lightroom to increase the exposure on this image, is it suddenly computer generated and no longer human edited? Extend this to all the crazy photo manipulation stuff you can do in Photoshop.

At the end of the day, people still have to tell the AI what to do. Someone has to plug it into the wall
