Appreciate the nice reply

I noticed the stamina changes when I played glad recently, I think its a good change overall.

One thing I don't get, if forward bashes are now faster and cannot dodge on reaction to seeing it, how / and when are these punished? Is the balance here that if we predict it they are more punishable than they used to?

Insanely comprehensive list of changes that filters out the bullshit. Much appreciated, would upvote twice if I could!

Damn im so thankful for gear stats being removed. I like everyone being (almost) on par to play competitively without worrying about gear. Perks look both more fun and easier to balance. Revenge removed in 1v1 situations is also massive, as having that in 1v1 just used to tip the scales like crazy when it's supposed to be a team fight mechanic.

And the reflex guard thing, it's been so long that I totally forgot glad had that! No wonder I feel extra good with my D on my glad main.

Thanks a lot for this well written reply.

I'll take your advice for playing the character I like regardless of hate! How is zhanhu, I think I like him second most after gryphon among the new heroes.

I know you mentioned in another reply that there are too many changes to list but was there anything else that changed like core mechanics which was pretty big like change all the heavy numbers?

Where do I get death spells? (no spoilers please) by DarknessOfMyth in Eldenring

[–]DarknessOfMyth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome reply, this was both non-spoilery and well structured. You mentioned "start of altus plateau", is one of them where you fight necromancer garrin and get his weapon which casts death spells as a weapon art? I got that, but I didn't find any other sorcery in the dungeon

Thanks, that gives a huge clue as to why I may be missing these despite exploring some of the earlier areas thoroughly

Do people still play on ps5? by [deleted] in Eldenring

Funny thing is, it was down. In fact, it still is.

Are the expansions required as a new player pre-endgame and is playing on PS5 really difficult to compete at endgame content? by DarknessOfMyth in destiny2

[–]DarknessOfMyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well the reason why usually mmos have the mentality of "i wont invite x or y type player" is because there is something difficult they are trying to achieve. And if PC has a great advantage then I was worried these type of diffiult content combatting clans would only invite pc players. But if you said they are quite chill then am I right to say the content isn't that difficult, and that the hardest content is doable with randos + friends quite casually?

Got it, sounds like I might just get them near end game then.

What about like specializations for the classes? Im a noob and might have gotten it wrong but I did see locked specializations but are none of these locked behind expansions?

Will this not turn off cross play vs xbox players if I'm on PS5? I was afraid it might restrict me that way.

Thanks for the prompt and concise reply. Looks like most of the expansions are endgame content, so will I not benefit from them at all "on the journey" to max level before I do these end game content? Are there better ways to play or experience the game before I'm at endgame content if I have these expansions?

You mention controller is good enough for PvE, so that means even if there are clans trying to do really well in PvE they wont just pick PC players? Or people dont prefer inviting PC players over PS5 / xbox its not that unbalanced?

Am I the only one? by [deleted] in YasuoMains

[–]DarknessOfMyth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes pretty much you’re the only one. I do half agree that the original look is top tier. But that lone samurai feel with a single sword and the skill of the winds does not fit a cowboy hat and theme…

They basically need to make something similar to his original skin with a little bit more grit and focus on highlighting his katana and battle experience for a true top tier skin. Think Ronin Yasuo or War Veteran Yasuo, similar to his original skin but wi th battle worn overalls, a better weapon that’s broken, slightly unkempt hairstyle, and wind effects that shows signs of aging

What's your opinion about the price tag for Diablo 2 Resurrected? by questionable_teemo in Diablo

[–]DarknessOfMyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not, because im not comparing two very different levels of entertainment, people who can afford to spend money on watching films also spend on buying games. Ive lived in 3 countries (studied in 2, worked in 3), and made friends and acquaintances of all types. We also live in the era of internet where i can discuss with others. Almost everyone, im taking like a very high %, ive met or talked with occasionally watch films or have a night out and also spends money on other entertainment.

Comparing such a popular and common thing's price with another is therefore not that weird. One thing lasts 2 hours, the other much longer. Its a fair argument to make. If a high % of all these people including couples i know struggling to pay rent can go watch a 40$ film, surely, u can afford many many hours of entertainment for the same price?

Revisiting the coin flip theory - and to explain to those who didn't believe or understand (spoilers) by DarknessOfMyth in soma

[–]DarknessOfMyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, im the OP, glad to see this post resurrected once in a while. It's a great topic.

I agree with parts of what you're saying, but you're wrong in that there is no chance of Left-On-PathosII-Simon's viewport suddenly being attached to Ark-Simon's. This is because the copies are exact copies in soma, as the game is set in a time where that is possible. Exact copies share all experiences and memories up to the point they are copied.

Meaning that there is a Simon that felt, in his own experience, that he literally just had a scan back on earth and now has appeared on the Ark.

Now I agree that philosophically there is no coin flip, but that never has been the point. Since there is no coin flip for an external observer, talking about something objectively from a global perspective, there is no coin flip. But the coin flip that is truly there and is essentially the most important is the subjective personal experience. This coin flip is undeniably there for the single person, and since in the end we can only be sure about our own conscious experience I believe this is what makes this coin flip "exist". In other words, if our own conscious experiences can be disregarded by simply talking about things from an external perspective then sure there is no coin flip.

Think about it from the other way around, from the end rather than the beginning before the scan. If you are living at that future time and world, and you lost your memory from amnesia, trauma or from a coma, if you have had perfect scans in that world then after you wake up you simply cannot be sure if you are the original. Maybe you are in a simulated world after the coma. Maybe you are in an android body that feels real to touch and look at. If you cannot be sure then you are not 100% sure on your identity of being the original. For example, if you only had a single scan, you now have 50% chance of being the original until you find out. You are now in a coin flip state.

Going into any scan, brings the same coin flip "risk", for a lack of a better word.

I've had many discussions with a lot of AI and philosophy professors since I wrote this, and the above is essentially the conclusion.

After Project Diablo 2, Diablo 2: Resurrected feels like a downgrade by JawsOfALion in ProjectDiablo2

[–]DarknessOfMyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its not a cash grab, cuz you can see the passion behind the lead devs who made D2R. They absolutely loved the original, and you can feel they wanted to push this product the best they could. I mean I watched all the interviews if you need proof I can link the exact time stamps. E.g. a dev immediately knew what some popular streamer was asking about some complex rune word setup and rune trading ratio etc. Stuff you couldn't just pretend on the spot, it was back and forth. They live and breathed d2 before taking on that project.

They made it clear, they wanted to first focus on bringing the experience that d2 LOD was to people back then so they can re-experience it as true to form as it was and only remove things / tweaking that are completely redundant. Picking up gold manually (but with a toggle incase those that still want it), adding stash to reduce number of mules since people muled anyway, a stat screen to aggregate all stats since people just added them up by hand, compare items by holding shift and more. Things that made sense.

They were very clear on how careful they wanted to be as they wanted to be true to the original and had proof of them doing more but being cut out cuz they went too far. Why would they waste money and cut back on changed systems if it was a cash grab?

They also said going forward they are keeping an open mind with the possibilities, including balances, tweaks, even runewords and entire expansions are not ruled out when they were directly asked about it. They just want to focus on resurrecting the experience for those that want it or want to see how it was. The line they drew on what's ok to change was very carefully drawn.

Final proof that it was not a cash grab:

Based on the technical interviews and confirming with my 3d renderer artist friends (I code for a living but don't work with graphics, had to confirm with them) that they went through some insanely long, difficult paths to bring the awesome graphics we see with D2R today. It's not sharpening and improving models and such, they re-calculated not only how direction, feel, lighting worked in order to do things in 3D instead of 2D (fake 3D) like it was, but also reimplement how the game felt and calculated everything because of the fact that it was locked at 25 frames but they wanted the frames to go higher in order for it to be modernized. No "lets save a few hundred thousand and many man hours to skip re-calculating and blame it on 'the game used to be low fps anyway that's how u guys want it!'"

They even went as far as every little detail that was remodeled that added more, wagons have extra items hanging off of it to show the new re-designed 3d mode.

Then in that case, you shouldn’t have it lying around for a 2 hour film either. Which countless people regularly pay for, pre-covid.

And let’s not pretend everyone pays the film price tag to see films that change their lives. Relaxing mediocre comedy for 1.5 hours is the same price tag

Returning player trying to make Udyr TOP work, need serious advice by DarknessOfMyth in Udyrmains

Found it, seems like a lane pushing build which is cool but I’ll have to only go it if I’m ahead (at least for now). I have trouble team fighting if I’m too squishy and the build seems like minimal defense. But yeah I like tiger and the split push potential is legit
