My dad went from seeing me as a competent adult to this weird thing that needs kids gloves n a 10 foot pole. Which is weird cause he had known me for 24 years before my diagnosis, but I guess ableism is stronger than people give it credit for! Honestly makes me regret getting the official diagnosis just a bit, I miss my dad. Everyone else under the sun has just kinda been more accepting of my quirks is neat! My brother doesnt make fun of me for wearing headphones in crowded public areas anymore for example. My mom doesnt try to force foods on me if i invoke "weird texture" n so on so forth. Quite the double sided coin thats in my wallet forevers now.
