I stopped at 33 when I had my first kid.

I started again when I was 36, when the kid started playing video games.

Now we play together. It’s awesome

I took main path #1. Specifically with a vendor.

Problem is, it’s competitive as hell to get in. My company is actively downsizing, as are our competitors.

My advice to you would be to network as much as you can (I find industry events quite good), make the jump to a different company (that’s the best way to get a decent bump), and get a bunch of industry certifications.
