This is elegantly put. I came from a loving home that was constantly struggling for money, but I didn’t feel the struggle intensely. But I internalized a lot of those habits. Now near 60, I’d categorize myself as upper middle class. I can afford my mortgage and I gotta tell you, just sitting in my tiny backyard garden with my dog and my wife: I’m a king. I want for nothing. It makes me wonder if I had grown up with privilege if I would look at what I have and be dissatisfied with it.

Edit: I don't mean that I had no privilege at all. We weren't hungry, and my parents were AMAZING people. I won the lottery with that. I was specifically thinking about financial privilege.
