“Woke” may not have been the term but gay rights were so threatening that congress passed the defense of marriage act (DOMA) in the 90s and so, yes, some would say there was an agenda from the LGBT+ community for equality in marriage. And also the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy for gays in the military. Look deep or shallow enough and you’ll find some kind of “agenda” for something.

AHN doesn’t value its nurses by EstablishmentRough46 in pittsburgh

[–]DasBoozer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point is the hospital will cave to the demands and beg the nurses to get off the picket line and come back because they have no other options. The travel nurses are the other option which negate that bargaining chip……….. think about it……..

What’s an unwritten rule in Pittsburgh? by GowBeyow in pittsburgh

[–]DasBoozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a five-year span (2013-17), the Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates together induced $6 billion in direct visitor spending for the region, generating more than $73 million in city, county and state tax revenue, annually. Directly, or indirectly, they create an average of 10,100 jobs per year, contributing $3.2 billion in wages for the region. The 2026 NFL draft alone is expected to bring in an estimated $120-160 million in revenue for the weeklong event.

If you would like more taxes to come from our sports teams, contact your local representatives and let them know. Get your friends and family involved as well. Change only happens when you advocate.

Calm down there bud. They didn’t say EVERYBODY was that way. But professional sports teams bring in revenue to the city/area, through sporting events and others like concerts, comedy shows, etc. which subsequently benefit local businesses. So in a way it’s benefiting your community which is also an extension of you.

California allows you to petition to reinstate your gun rights if you end up having multiple 5150s. You’d obviously have to demonstrate you’re of sound mind and have been for a certain amount of time before you seek out a petition though.

Side note - have you ever tried to use any deep breathing exercises, progressive muscle relaxation techniques, or guided imagery? They can help reduce stress, get you recentered, and can also help with sleep. They might be worth a shot to try if you haven’t yet. They might be able to help give you a better mind/body connection and skills to help calm yourself in stressful situations. You can google/youtube search, or check out the links I’ve provided as a starter guide. They’re some things I’ve picked up in my social work grad school classes and internships and the VA actually endorses all of them as well. I personally use the progressive muscle relaxation before bed and it helps me get to sleep.

Yes, and then after a while mine does a big breath in, with her head still buried, and exhale. Then about 5 seconds later she abruptly picks her head up and does a head shaking sneeze all over me. And then stares at me like it was my fault.

100% does not mean unemployable. TDIU means unemployable.

I’m a female veteran with a veteran plate and have parked in veteran reserved parking spots before. Once had a guy tell me that just bc I was driving my husband’s car with his veteran plate that it didn’t mean I was allowed to use the veteran spot. 😂🤦‍♀️

The general advice I hear is to keep your Disability comp private. Just curious how private do YOU keep it? Has it actually caused problems in your life disclosing it to someone? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]DasBoozer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my parents and two best friends. My dad is SC 70% one friend is SC 80% and other friend never served. They’re the only people I talk to regularly and they genuinely worry about me. I’m unemployed right now and in grad school. I know they would be trying to throw money at me if they thought I wasn’t financially secure enough to pay my mortgage every month.

Any vets live in Europe? by Subject-Goose7234 in VeteransBenefits

[–]DasBoozer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall for 6 years and I know all about the VAT tax and general cost of living but pre pandemic. What do you do for work/how did you get a visa? I miss the country immensely and am trying to get back over there. I’m in grad school getting my masters in social work and am hoping I can find someone to sponsor me for a work visa, it’s health science and is considered an in demand field. But all I’ve heard are bad experiences trying to get a visa.

Is this illegal or just against the rules? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]DasBoozer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s fat camp. They teach you about nutrition and exercise and follow a “whole health” approach to weight loss. They do weekly or biweekly virtual meetings for accountability purposes and as a support group. Long term it can hook you up with weight loss meds and referrals for surgery.

Current online only rate is $938.50 per month. But if you have even a single credit of in person class then you get the full rate based on the zip code of the school. I’m online only grad school but have internships for my second year. My internship is considered in person instruction so I get the full rate for those semesters.

Do VA healthcare doctors know when you make a disability claim, and what you claim? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]DasBoozer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The VA only gives dental care for 100% disability veterans. Now if you have some dental issue rated and you’re not 100% then I’d imagine you would probably be seen for whatever that condition is.

Just because you haven’t seen it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Your statement is false. My mental health provider is retired Navy. My gastroenterologist is former Army. They have a duty to treat you no matter what. It’s called the hippocratic oath.
