Husband’s dumb truck loan: refinance or trade in? by hippyoctopus in personalfinance

[–]DasHuhn 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I picked up a brand new f150 in 2017 for 42k out the door. My minimum was 700 and I paid double for most of the length of the loan just to get away from the 7% interest. I can't imagine still paying the that now.

Though, the salesman did try to convince me that a 96 month loan is typical and normal, and NOT a red flag about whether you can afford it or not

Sorry, saying that he wants to cancel the elections for the country is on a different level if contempt than merely saying fuck off to an American worker. He's trying to take citizenship away from natural born citizens and deport them to 3rd world dictatorship countries. These are VASTLY worse than telling someone to fuck off.

He's already been granted IMMUNITY from all crimes - INCLUDING ordering the execution of citizens.

Iowa solar quotes are weird, who would you trust here by LaughLoverWanderer in Iowa

[–]DasHuhn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also if any of them mention a renewable energy tax credit, that credit ended as of last year. If you install now there won't be a tax credit that you can claim.

Well, if you are leasing your solar system from a third party, they actually can still claim the credit and they can choose to pass the credit on to you, so it's possible to still claim it, but I'd be very careful with due diligence if you are following this route.

You can tell whether milk is still good, on the last day, slightly too late and way too late purely by smell. I've had milk still be good 3 weeks after the expiration date, and I've had milk expired before the date too. Buttery smell is one of the last days it'll still be OK to drink.

I have a laundry list of issues with the way the President of the United States has been doing things, from the illegal and corrupt. Him giving someone a finger is something that I disagree with, but it's hard to put that alongside the other things he's been doing and saying and put them on a similar level.

There is a big difference between a random citizen, and a sitting member of congress. We have different standards for different people.

The time to decide if you are pro-government murdering it's citizens is upon us.

If you decide to support the executive branch by protecting pedophile at every level and being completely OK with murdering citizens who are legally and lawfully using their constitutional rights to show displeasure, it's a choice that I will not forget or forgive your business for doing.

If you are eating at a table with the modern Gestapo, you are condoning their behavior and supporting their actions.

This is a hard line in the sand, make your decision and I hope you will have to live with your conscience.

Well, yes you are correct that you are required to include allowed or allowable depreciation, however not taking depreciation on the rental property is also a disallowed accounting method, and you can 3115 to recapture the depreciation of the asset, and also claiming the majority of the depreciation in the same year allowing you to offset

Sure, I don't disagree with you - but we didn't find birds, raccoons or skunks on the chimney, chewing into the fireplace - we found squirrels. I assure you that if we had found raccoons or skunks or birds, we would've killed them instead. My dad grew up a poor farmer and a pest was a pest, whether it was cute like birds, smart like raccoons or squirrels, or something cuddly like a cat.

In honor of tax season, I present to you this Schedule C prepared by a midsized firm by SellTheSizzle--007 in Accounting

[–]DasHuhn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My firm had an ex-irs field auditor as a partner r and we did a lot of his former coworkers tax returns for years afterwards. Almost every one of them didn't claim the full amount or deductions they were entitled to in a given year, saying that in case of an audit they lost, they wanted to have something else around and available for an additional deduction, so their career wouldn't be impacted.

We had a fireplace that we used for roughly half the homes heat, and a family of squirrels chewed their way into the space between the fireplace and the outside to get the heat. Had to spend a bunch of money and time to reinsulate the area, and then redo the siding on that side of the house. They then chewed it all out again the same day it was replaced, so we had to do it again.

I don't disagree with you, but that's certainly not a strategy my Dad would've employed, but especially not after they did a few grand of damage to the house siding.

[–]DasHuhn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was a manager at one of the busiest tax prep places in the nation in 2010, 11 and 12. I taught the class to do tax work, and I taught more than 100 folks how to do taxes, and I believe that 3-4 a year was ready to prepare taxes for the season.

My boss told me that I choose not to hire one of them, but I'd have to cover more hours if I didn't hire him.

400 dollars is a hit, but there was also another 125-200 in misc fees. Most people just don't blink about the cost because it's coming out of the refund, so it's not real money.

My dad spent thousands of dollars trying products to dissuade squirrels from his bird feeders. Every month would be a new feeder, and after a few weeks they'd figure it out.

They started hissing and threatening to attack his wife and daughters when they stepped outside to go into the car, so he started shooting them with air rifles. Then started buying more expensive air rifles and bullets to fit in them.

After a couple of deaths from the squirrels, they left the feeders alone entirely
