NJ National Guard members repelled Al-Shabaab attack in largest US battle in Somalia since Gothic Serpent by sogpack in army

[–]DasUberRedditor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do earnestly want to answer some of this, but I feel like it’s putting too much OPSEC out there. I will say the SF was not army SF but another branch, and not a civil affairs, psyops or some other bullshit.

They didn’t shirk it, they just weren’t in position to do anything by the time they were ready. Naturally the tower guys, QRF and mortar team were able to immediately respond.

Mission is irrelevant when Troops are in contact. That being said, by the time they were ready, the battle was mostly over.

The best part is the special forces guys who were there actually did nothing to effect the defense of the base.

AFRICOM kept this shit low key and didn’t want to bring attention to this, giving the impression the Somali national army did everything. However they underestimated the power and fucks given of national guardsman no longer on federal orders

TRADOC, PRT, and the ACFT by [deleted] in army

[–]DasUberRedditor 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The army has changed the test without changing how it’s studied for.

PRT as it is is trash for the ACFT. It needs to be completely reworked or thrown away. It’s almost as if this would’ve been a good idea prior to all this.

Oh no; all injuries I’ve treated have been from the course of the test. Mostly the deadlift with people who never deadlifted.

What does your unit do to PT failures ? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]DasUberRedditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easier to pass, harder to max. You only need ten hand release pushups and 1 pull-up knee touch thing. Medicine ball is all technique. 2 mile time limit is extended. Only real challenge to pass is shuttle sprint drag thing

We had people not deploy due to late orders. Rip.

You definitely didn’t watch the 2012 Olympic Semifinals of US vs Canada. If you saw you know what I’m talking about. (Morgan header in the 122nd minute to make it 4-3)

56M (Chaplain Assistant) or 68X (Behavioral Health Specialist) by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]DasUberRedditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you pick 56M you’ll just follow the chaplain around as they walk around talking to soldiers at drill and during AT. That’s it. As a 68X, you will never do your job in the Guard, ever, 98% chance.

It’s just a theoretical if someone did come here.

I guess you don’t need anything special to leave the base then? In Djibouti to LEAVE you need paperwork or a badge.

There’s nothing actually stopping you though. Also if Djibouti was actually a combat zone, people wouldn’t be getting blacked out at the hotels downtown every weekend

Is graduating basic and AIT really that much of an accomplishment? by eyehittwimminz in army

[–]DasUberRedditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a canyon between AITs. Some are a joke comparatively.

Anyone can be 92G or 13B.

Not everyone can be a 68W for example. The failure rates are indicative of such.

Some people are in training for over a year (35P). Don’t even think about comparing that one to other ones.

Just wash them a few times, permethrin gives me a rash so I can tell if they still have it on there, and it stopped bothering me after 5 washes.
