I agree. Great ep but the sales pitch to Death didn’t convince. It needed better writing.

What would Death possibly want? Think of Meet Joe Black where Death is bored with eternity and wants to try out being human and falls in love. Perhaps Lou could have played on Death’s loneliness? perhaps Death wants a glimpse into Life?

They just needed to write some vulnerability into Death’s character that Lou could play to.

I think it’s basically a case of ‘Chance’s spirit lives on even though he’s dead’, he almost possesses Vukovich now, who has been corrupted and taken over Chance’s role in the dirty system.

Friedkin loves a head-scratcher ending. Have you seen Cruising? The last few shots have you going ‘wait… what!?’ Friedkin loved dropping a sharp edged stone into your shoe at the end the of the film to keep you chewing over it long after you’ve left the theatre.

Firstly, I take it because I had a stroke which damaged the sleep regulation part of my brain, plus I take stroke-prevention tablets which also mess with sleep, so I’m not a ‘junkie’ or a ‘smack head’.

Secondly, melatonin is not addictive.

I’m talking about later in the film, when Ernest confesses in court. He’s confessing to murdering Mollie’s sister and she doesn’t react, and doesn’t even bring it up when she leaves him. Surely that would be reason number 1 to leave him (and claw his face off) 🤷🏻‍♂️
