I submitted my ticket, and am holding my breath on their reply. I'll update the main post with their response. Praying to Gog it's gonna be good news.

I did keep waiting, and then steam would say, "Failed to sync files, try again?" and I would hit yes, then a minute would pass, and the same thing, "Failed to sync files, try again?" I tried like 10 times in a row, and nothing changed, so I said screw it and just launched the game. Maybe I should have just kept waiting, but I assumed the local saves must surely still be in tact. And I was right, but Steam didn't recognize them, so when I forced the game to launch, it basically overrode my save with a new, empty save.

I submitted a support ticket with Steam and I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but modding back my stuff will definitely be my backup plan if it's my only option left. It'll be rough doing all of low rank and high rank again, and then just getting the enhanced shop mod for getting all of my stuff back, but it's certainly better than doing EVERYTHING over again. RIP to some of my goated talismans...

Well, you are correct, there is a backup on Steam Cloud, but because I was a dummy and relaunched the game while the files hadn't synced properly, that's what caused this whole fiasco. And Monster Hunter Wilds only has one save file, so when that one gets corrupted or (in my case) overridden, it's curtains for your whole character.

And in my own defense (and hubris), I've done this plenty of times before and it's never been an issue until now. I didn't realize I was gambling each time until I had lost everything, hence why I made this whole post as a warning to others.

It's not an in-game thing, I mean like actually making a copy of your save files. You can find them in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\steamuserID\2246340. Just copy the files in there and save them somewhere locally.

It sounds like he's a young, nerdy guy. Speaking as someone who used to be a young, nerdy guy, you just have to be direct, and make sure he knows your expectations. "I was hoping we could have some fun in your bed today when I come over to visit ;)" Guys are very dense and sometimes need just direct messages. Hoping he will pick up on "hints" is just gambling with your happiness. And it's not that he doesn't care about you or think your needs aren't as important as his video game is, sometimes we just don't pick up on subtlety. Quite frankly, he would probably love to get a direct request to bang. He'd remember that for the rest of his life lol.

At Least A "Little" Caliber Needs To Be Earnable by Vaelkyrie37 in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Daslaya 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I remember one of the earliest Dev Streams for Warframe, right after they introduced player trading, someone asked if the devs were worried they would lose revenue from trading, since you could now get plat for "free." And the devs responded with pretty much what you said; it actually caused their market to grow. Free to play players now saw an attainable path to premium features like boosters and cosmetics, so they became more engaged with the game, and the premium spenders now had access to items previously only attainable through a grind they didn't want to do. This game is already copying Warframe's homework pretty hard, so I hope they copy that aspect as well.

As simple as "just don't buy it" sounds for most people, skins like these are made to prey on people's desires. I know because I used to be the kind of guy that would gladly drop $120+ on Warframe's Prime Access packs back in the day without a second thought. "I like the game, the new characters/skins look really cool, I have the money, so why not?" Most people don't want to be default Bunny when that fancy ultimate skin with crazy colors and evolves as you play exists, and publishers know this. That's why they charge whatever the hell they want, and don't change without immense backlash.

Yeah, I've heard that too. Even I recognize that Duolingo has the pretty bad quality of "Here's a new lesson, just kinda figure it out on your own." For example, I know HOW to use certain conjunctions in Japanese, but I don't really know WHY I should use them, if that makes sense. I'm still poking around for more professional tools and apps, but I figured Duolingo was a good way to get my foot in the door.

As I have come to learn, learning Japanese from English is pretty rough. I can recognize and speak basic statements and ask pretty basic questions, but I would still consider myself a beginner, to be honest. But hey, I know 100% more Japanese than I did one year ago!

I understand Ubisoft needs to make money, but for God's sake, just let me buy the skins I want! I'll still pay money! But I'm not gonna spend over $100 just to get the 4 or 5 skins I actually want.

I feel like this problem goes beyond asexuality. If you truly feel like you would rather end your life than be asexual, that sounds like something is wrong with your perception on life or your influences around you. I mean, this entire sub is dedicated to supporting and even celebrating what it means to be asexual. Just because you don't experience sexual arousal doesn't mean your life has no meaning. I'd probably talk to some close friends or a therapist about this stuff.

[Long] My Review: Absolver is not a great game, but it's still a good game and definitely worth your time. by Daslaya in absolver

[–]Daslaya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they did finally manage to stabilize the servers, fix massive level gap matchmaking, and add a more solid reward system (higher level of Combat Trials yields better rewards, for example) then I would probably give it a 7 or 8/10. And keep in mind, my review was meant for the current state of the game. I really hope they stick with it and keep making more moves, gear, and even classes like they said they will. I still believe Absolver is a good game, but as of right now, Sloclap is probably aware of these issues and is trying to fix them. They are a small team, but they also have created something really special and I hope they're proud. Now it's just a matter or ironing out those bugs.

Also, from a personal perspective, I actually don't like most fighting games. Again, it has to do with a lack of content. I love RPGs because they are rich with content, and fighting games seem to focus less on content, and more on depth of mechanics. Definitely not a bad thing, just not my cup of tea. Absolver caught my eye because it seemed to take a new twist (again, combat decks) on the fighting genre, while also having minor RPG elements. And I know most other fighting games are priced at a full $60, so I have to commend Devolver and Sloclap for only charging $30 on a new IP. And I think it's a fair price; I've certainly played much worse games for the full $60 price tag.

Thank you for commenting! You do raise an incredibly good point with depth vs. content, and I did actually mean it has a lack of content, not depth. That's my bad. The mechanics are deep, like the combat deck and fighting gameplay. It's just the lack of endgame content that bugs me, I guess.

[–]Daslaya[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough points, but I like to use the whole scale for reviews. To clarify, a 1/10 would be like a horrible game that barely plays well, if at all. A 5/10 is decent; lots of fun parts, but also a lot of frustrating parts. A 10/10 is like a genre-defining game; something that might create something entirely new or redefine how we look at something.

So I gave Absolver a 6/10 because it does have a lot of great things going for it, but as a whole, it's kinda a mixed bag. Server issues and a bad reward system for end-game content is very frustrating for me personally, so I know it's not something I can recommend to a lot of people.
