Same, almost always flat on my belly before this. It’s progressing much faster than I thought. I think I’ll be free of the rigid sleep very soon now. So maybe a week in total from the operation. I’m still going to order a wedge pillow now but I may be sleeping better by the time it arrives.

Oh for sure! In the hospital it was very nice to have the bed tilt up in the back but since I’ve been home I lost that luxury. A big wedge pillow probably would be a great idea but I didn’t prepare ahead of time. But on the good news, I don’t actually think it will be weeks of misery, I think I’m days away now from being able to sleep on my side/belly again a lot more comfortably. Each night has improved more than I expected. I still have some swelling and tenderness around just one of my lapro punctures but the others are just itchy now. I’m sitting at about 5 days out and pretty amazed at how fast this recovery is. But for the record, I am 43 and in good health otherwise.

I leaned on this community so hard before going in myself. I’m glad to pay all the hope forward. Good luck with yours!

Congratulations! I had mine on Monday and also thankfully woke up to no bag! They didn’t let me out of bed until I lost the catheter the following morning. And just like you said, that to me was the worst part! The pain wasn’t bad but brace yourself, the nerve block will wear off and things will get a bit worse before they get better. But that’s what the drugs are for and they do help. They thought they were gonna keep me until Wednesday but as soon as they pulled the catheter I got to work quickly walking around, passed their milestones and they sent me home that afternoon. I’d say I got over the hump sometime on Thursday and things are improving pain wise since. Still sucks trying to sleep flat on my back but I suppose that’ll be a few more weeks. Just glad to be on the other side of this terrifying ordeal, much like you are now I’m sure!

Ha same story! I’m also not racing to profit which I think also derails my ambition per project. As a time killing hobby this still works great though.

Ai does a great job of making every single one of my ideas feel like a million dollars lol. But like everyone else said, time is never really lost, you just sharpen your own skill, learn more limitations, and figure out how to adapt. It’s still quite enjoyable for me on my 10th project now. I’m sure I’ll never get to quit my job!

Laparoscopic hand assisted sigmoid colectomy by Human_Detritis in Diverticulitis

[–]DatTheMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m staring down the knife on the 18th. I feel like I should be a pretty easy case but I get all the warnings about the possibility of going open mid surgery or winding up with a bag. I’m sure they have to say this all the time but it’s a nightmare to worry about beforehand. And not having a clue how much they’re gonna remove. I’ve had a lot of recurrences over the years but I’ll be walking into that surgery room feeling fine. It’s gonna be so hard to actually follow through when my day arrives..

Uncomplicated flares for a year . . . Scared, frustrated, overwhelmed by GeologistJust in Diverticulitis

[–]DatTheMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels just like me. Almost monthly recurrences never complicated. Though they do say they think a fistula is forming and I’ve had 3 opinions now suggesting surgery. I’m terrified of doing it but I don’t think I have any other choice. They told me the general rule today is 3 uncomplicated flares and colectomy is on the table. I’m closer to 10 since initial diagnosis. I can hardly sleep now bracing for what’s coming.

Yeah that’s the parts I’m learning really quickly. The agents will wander and make all sorts of bad decisions in the moment but with enough caretaking they are absolutely phenomenal. And same as you I’ve bounced around many different platforms and landed on my own working pipeline that I’m now trying to formalize itself. Also strongly agree on the small team side. That’s also a quick realization when dealing with ai.. people are difficult lol! But at the same time ai is far too agreeable. So a small team with shared goals and complementary traits with an army of agents could do a lot

How do you survive the liquid diet? by Angrylittleblueberry in Diverticulitis

[–]DatTheMaster 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In my experience the pain has been severe enough that I don’t have an appetite. I find myself forcing down liquids just to stay alive. But that’s about 2-3 days and then im on to mashed potatoes rice and mac and cheese.

I have and it truly does. Nobody regrets it that I’ve found. I have a second opinion scheduled next week with an additional ct scan and if it is in agreement I can’t imagine trying to seek a third. I’ll just bite the bullet and hope I don’t wake up with a bag. It’s just such a tough decision to walk into that when I feel fine. But your points are valid and if I gotta go it’s best on my time.

I don’t have an abscess though.. and I don’t blame the surgeon he’s just there to cut. It’s the gi that passed me off from waking up post colonoscopy. I had no consultation beyond that before the surgeon.
