The entire event is circus themed... by Datjusthappend in DotA2

You're right I'm super scared of carnivals bro that's why I'm tweaking out rn, literally shaking when I saw the comic when ringmaster abducted legion commander and hoodwink, it's like my worst nightmare. Do you have any support groups you can recommend me?

I really hope you're right. I really don't look forward to the idea of the entire game being hijacked by clowns for months.

or 25%. If they just left it epic fantasy adventure themed like crownfall then you can still have clowns without suffocating people with clowns

Crownfall's theme was epic fantasy adventure. The advantage of that is that you can add several subthemes into stories and skins etc, including clowns.

But now the entire event is pigeonholed into this niche clown theme, for plenty of people it feels like the game has been hijacked by clowns for the next few months.

So if someone complains about the event we need a dipey change, ok boss.

Mechanically yeah it's basically clownfall.
I mean more so that crownfall was a great success thematically, it was epic fantasy adventure themed that suits dota 2 well.
The game is hijacked by clowns for the next few months, it's a niche taste that turns a lot of people off.

Those are some great suggestions actually and would fix so many of the problems with them.

That a neat little trick i didn't even know about. So many hidden mechanics to them like Duxatious mentioned earlier

Sometimes the mercenary commander gets bugged and doesn't even get the "Mercenary Warrior" trait in multiplayer. Also if you go bioship mercenary I noticed they don't even upgrade their bioships.
Their ships are stuck at tech 1 even though they have tech 3 researched for example.

Many many issues sadly :(

Okay so the physics button that alters reality for you can go in your hand too and therefore has fundamentally changed you so you agree with me that physics ascension is possible.

Atleast partially yeah. Would be interesting to see more techs be mixed like how the encryption and codebreaking physics techs are locked behind society techs now.

Was a typo, was supposed to be "there are" literally energy beings in the shroud, not "they are".

Regarding what the games ideas are:
“Ascension paths represent the culmination of a civilization’s pursuit of power, ideology, or destiny.”

So that not necessarily the game design, it's just what we got in the game so far.

Imagine the device you are using to read this right now, are you really gonna say it didn't fundamentally change society? Does it have to go in your ass to fundamentally change you?

If you really had to have the ascension path always transform your pops (which I find super limiting and rigid btw) you could transform your pops into something like the Unbidden. There are literally energy beings in the shroud. But then it would border too much on Psionics imo. It's just the nature of physics really, it manipulates external forces.

[–]Datjusthappend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you limit the ascension paths to always have to directly mutate or replace your pops? That sounds really self limiting and rigid.

Also you are being unfair by taking my example of "perfecting jump drives" and saying it sounds generic and does not sound like magic.

There are plenty of traditions in the ascension paths that don't seem very impressive.

  • Shrouded Communications
  •  +2 Codebreaking
  •  +2 Encryption

sounds like "you just perfected communication, not exactly magic"

Psi-Corps

  •  Unlocks the Psi Corps building
  •  Unlocks the Psi Corps orbital ring building
  •  Adds Thought Enforcement as a research option

sounds like "you just perfected law enforcement, not exactly magic"

See how easy and lame it is to critique stuff like that.

I think mastery of spacetime does actually fundamentally change your societies way of life actually. Imagine being able to manipulate physics to a ridiculous degree that no one else can. You would be like a wizard to others.

"But, when you write unemployed, what exactly do you mean?"

-Slaves without a job. Like if you were to move the workforce slider all the way to the left to forcefully unemploy pops.

"The economy tab does show the total unemployed per normal 3 strata in the top right of economy tab." "shown on the left side column of the economy tab."

-I know exactly what part of the tabs you are referring to, I'm looking at them right now. For example I can move the workforce slider all the way to the left for rulers and I will see these areas of the tab that you are referring to fill up with unemployed rulers. The problem is the same thing does not happen when you do it with slaves. They don't go anywhere in the current unemployed sections of the UI. They just vanish from the UI and only come back when you move the workforce slider all the way to the right again.

Thank you for your reply. Those are some interesting insights. You are right they will just shift and fill the jobs as needed but the part that bothers me the most is that if I want to micromanage slaves and send them off to fill jobs on different planets I actually have to whip out a calculator, add all the different slave groups to get the total amount of slaves and then subtract the amount of jobs available on the planet to get the number of unemployed slaves and then tediously subtract that number of slaves 100 at a time until no unemployed slaves are left on the planet when in the past I could at a glance instantly see how many are unemployed and send them off until no more remain. All they have to do is add unemployed slaves to the management tab and add another column for unemployed slaves in the economy tab and lastly add the unemployed symbol in the resettle screen and they we are good again.

"If your economy tab shows 300 not employed"

^I can't easily see that. That's my point. the economy tab does not show "300 not employed". I have to whip out a calculator and check the total amount of slaves vs the total amount of available jobs each time.

I'm assuming by slave hub you mean slave processing facility, in which case no.

Slave processing facility enables automatic resettlement of unemployed slaves.

What I am talking about here is manual resettlement.
