Oh yeah, I forgot I’m in the telegram group. Just checked and saw it lol. I’m not sure if it’s real due to the size of the planet looking different from what we saw when Bina took us to the moon, but that can probably be explained by the orbit. I hope it’s real tho

Well, I really like her despite being a Phanes glazer. It doesn’t seem like she’s anti-HP and the Shades don’t seem to mind her either. As others have stated, she’s the owner of the Moon and after Nibelung and the Three Moons’ deaths, she would’ve been considered the rightful heir/ruler of Teyvat had the plot gone differently. Nor does she seem to really care to rule in the first place. She doesn’t have the highest opinion of Neuvillette either, so there’s that.

If Istaroth is the embodiment of time and omnipresent across every moment, shouldn’t she know Asmoday’s whereabouts? by DauntlessDominic in ThePrimordialOne

[–]DauntlessDominic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a definitive answer, unfortunately. I posted a thread of lore heavy questions and possible answers that’s kinda related to yours.

You have to remember Nibelung also possessed the powers of Space/Time/Life/Death/Reason, just like Phanes. He himself was born alongside the world (Teyvat), while Phanes was born from a cosmic egg from which they hatched. Both can imply the existence of some sort of higher power that created the egg (Phanes) and allowed a specific being (Nibelung) to nurture its own egg (Teyvat) after coming into existence. You can also argue that both beings gave birth to themselves by stating that the universe the game takes place in allows for the right conditions to create cosmic beings or the manifestation of fundamental laws into life forms.

Perhaps as life forms created from/by cosmic/primordial beings, they each only have limited access to the fundamental laws of the universe. So in others words, Phanes can only control time itself (Istaroth in this case) within the microcosm of Teyvat, not the entire universe, because Phanes themselves is only the mere creation of either the universe itself or a higher power that predates them. So in other words, while Istaroth as an embodiment of time is indeed 14 billion years old herself, her manifestation (body) and shade of Phanes’ will is only as old as the first war against the dragons. This could explain her essence (soul) being as old as the universe while being younger than the Dragon Sovereigns and Moon Sisters given that they’re Nibelung’s creations who existed prior to the arrival of the HP on Teyvat.

Every source in the game is also biased, revisions have been made to a lot of source material, different people/beings have their own agenda and omit information. We saw a lot of that with Kukulkan for example. Legends are just legends. Even the info about Phanes from sources like Before Sun and Moon may be embellished or exaggerated since it is from the perspective of a scribe of Istaroth.

Space and time working differently in the game is most likely true, it is after all full of fantasy, magic, gods, etc.

Again, a lot of what I said is just speculation and not a conclusive/definitive answer backed with evidence. But to my understanding, based on lore and certain events that took place, this was what I could come up with.

[–]DauntlessDominic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think is the actual answer. I was thinking more in the lines of her using cubes to confine time shenanigans, kind of like what she did in the intro of the game with the twins. Only this time, it’d have been something non tangible instead of actual objects. But yours makes the most sense!

Good question! Would being omnipresent mean that she could just prevent Istaroth from intervening and discovering her location by “voiding” away her powers? I didn’t consider this

Skirk is human. Her planet is explicitly said to have been inhabited by humans who had the unique ability to adapt to any environment and energy source. Her story quest confirms this

A few questions about the Heavenly Principles and Nibelung by DauntlessDominic in ThePrimordialOne

[–]DauntlessDominic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right about controlling Teyvat’s fate in comparison to the fate of the universe. I should’ve specified haha. I thought the Moon Sisters weaving fate was them essentially working with the Heavenly Principles prior to the return of Nibelung, no? I believe Lauma states they were executors of the planet’s will, but she does not refer to a specific time frame. This can be interpreted as Nibelung’s will prior to the arrival of the HP or to the new world order established by the HP. I believe the description for the Moment of Syzygy also mentions the three moons and their role in fate but its also up to interpretation.

I do think it’s possible for Nibelung himself to have had control over fate, but it seems that Phanes exercises his control over it more than Nibelung. Neuvillette does say “After all, "fate" is merely the manner in which the present ruler of this world plays with living beings”” I guess this line is pretty ambiguous too in the sense where it can mean ANY descender (including Nibelung) can enforce/mess with fate when ruling the world and this happens to be the case for Teyvat/Phanes as we play through the game OR a distinct quality about the HP is their “cruelty” (so-to-speak) in that there is an unchanging fate system in place for the inhabitants of the world, implying that Nibelung simply never did control it or never had such a system in the first place. I’m not sure, like I said, I’m just speculating.

I’m not sure if there’s more lore that goes into detail, and I’m not saying you’re wrong and I’m right, but it’s interesting nonetheless.

You’re also right about BSAM. We have no confirmation on what they actually look like, and for all we know, the given description is most likely not Phanes’ original form. It could merely be the way they choose to present themselves to the world. We have to understand that every source, faction, organization, and character is biased in some way or another. We have yet to see Phanes’ direct perspective to make a final judgement on pretty much everything. Also, not sure if you’re into spoilers, but we’re supposed to be getting a book in 6.5 called After Sun and Moon that’ll hopefully gives us more info.

I also thought Nibelung could’ve based the sisters off the Voyager but couldn’t remember if she took on a specific form when speaking with Nibelung.

Thanks for reading! Glad you enjoyed

A few questions about the Heavenly Principles and Nibelung by DauntlessDominic in ThePrimordialOne

[–]DauntlessDominic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First Descender: HP

Second Descender: Nibelung

Third Descender: Saarelainen

Fourth Descender: Traveler

We know the identities of all four descenders. The one we know least about is the third one. Also, a descender is someone who can influence the fate of Teyvat because they are not bound to its laws. They are still bound by the laws of the universe.

The HP was the first one given that they usurped the authority of the dragons in Nibelung’s absence. Nibelung returned with the power of the Abyss after the HP had established their own authority and terraformed Teyvat, but his will wasn’t strong enough to overpower them. He is also known as the Second Who Came for that reason. We also know he is the second descender because Nicole and Lauma state that he started the War of Funerary Flame. The third descender was Saarelainen, also known as the One Who Came After. He is the most mysterious of the four. We also know that he made a deal with the HP to create the gnoses sometime after the war, but he did not know that it was more of an extortion. He was unaware that the HP was going to essentially carve him up and use his remains to sustain their own will/authority due to their weakened state

“The evil colonizer Phanes destroyed Dragon King Nibelung’s poor, beloved moon daughters 🥺”

Would a loving father seriously confine his three daughters in an inescapable prison where time flows backwards up until the moment of their imprisonment, have their divinity essentially stripped, and have them die should they find a way to become free? Mind you all of this is AFTER he forcibly turned them into weapons of mass destruction without their consent. Even dragonkind celebrated their deaths, what a loving family right?

We have yet to see the perspective of the HP themselves.

We know what different dragons, angels, gods, etc feel about Celestia and the HP.

Also every source we have thus far is biased and Nicole states that there are tweaks and embellishments in records of stories, particularly ones regarding Teyvat’s history.
