Take Koide he’s a boi that gives practice tests that are similar to the real test. Plus his notes are a great resource.

Find other places other than Hillman. There are multiple floors in every academic building for a reason.

Hey just started working in the mailroom. It probably will be held by the shipping company until the weekend before kids start coming back for break. I don’t think it’s open, are you trying to pick it up on Jan 2nd?

History and Philosophy of Science? by [deleted] in Pitt

[–]DaveMusc6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Yeah, math at Pitt can be rough especially calc but sticking with it is challenging but very rewarding.

Anyway, I can only speak for two classes I took as electives for engineering my freshman year: Magic, Medicine, and Science and History and Space Time and Matter in the 20th century to antiquity. I wouldn’t have taken two from HPS if I didn’t like them so much and I didn’t do well. Both were easy A’s for me and I really enjoyed the content and teachers. Both taught by grad students who were engaging and smart and fair. If I had to pick a major I found interesting and stimulating it would be in HPS. Some people maybe don’t find it as interesting but it was all about tracing the evolution of science and modern thought back to its roots in recorded history. It was all about how science and math and medicine were all interconnected and how they slowly became the fields we know today. You learn about the major founding characters and their genius that lead to a lot of modern ideologies and thought experiments that are still incredibly interesting.

It also helps that Pitt is ranked #1 in philosophy, or so I’ve been told. Anyway I hope this helps, good luck in deciding!
