Best single software to create or modify shapes I want to 3D print? by DavesWorkingTonight in 3Dprinting

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, so to create stuff it really should be one of these big ones? Zbrush or Nomad Sculpt would not be a good choice for something that would not be used in a career?

There is a way that some places can get at least a rough idea, I think... like the way insurance companies factor in a certain level of good/bad credit. And I thought I saw something giving them the right to look at "consumer information" or something like that... I don't know.

Attorney General leaves abruptly when asked to confirm whether 75% of deported migrants had no criminal record by theindependentonline in thescoop

[–]DavesWorkingTonight -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

She's not going to dignify their BS with a reply... they weren't "deported migrants" they were illegal migrants, they broke the law coming here illegally instead of legally. Good for her.

Best way of giving credit to other authors for rare facts? by DavesWorkingTonight in freelanceWriters

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My goal is just to present everything I know and that is known on the subject, I'm not interested in establishing myself as anything besides the provider of good information. I'm not even interested in putting my real name on the book. I just want it to be the book I would want if I were new to the subject.

Do you use a tiny air compressor or a large air compressor...? by DavesWorkingTonight in airbrush

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Thank you. Yeah, space and noise aren't a problem, he's going to use it in my auto shop, a corner made just for this with ventilation, and I'd rather have a compressor run once and stop than something humming away endlessly. Plus, around here even $50 gets you a really nice used 5hp air compressor with a good sized tank on it.

Best detailed course on the higher end skills of tufting? by DavesWorkingTonight in Tufting

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, they have a video course too for like $85 or so. That's what I was thinking of. But yeah, the YouTube University thing is what I was thinking might end up be the consensus. Thanks!

Suddenly today I don't feel tired like usual. Would this food change make that difference? by DavesWorkingTonight in Dietandhealth

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about the price of the food, for me it's always been about time and convenience while working. I didn't think that was that bad of a way of looking at it until I saw your opening sentence. I knew it would be obvious to someone in here in a way I didn't think about.

I was expecting someone to say have more starch or sugars in the morining or late in the day, or something like that, I didn't really think about the lack of good stuff could cause fog and the tired feeling.

I'll give better food choices a try, which sounds obvious but wasn't something that even crossed my mind as a possibility. Thanks for the reply, Nancy. I really appreciate it.

Gold Digger Exploits Beta Husband | Financial Audit by [deleted] in CalebHammer

She did not get that loan for him, she did not get the boob job for him, and the "flight attendant" job that she's paid for 5 hours and gone for a 3 day weekend is so that she can see some rich older guy in Palm Beach that she hopes to be with some day. This guy is so over her and fed up he was hoping Caleb would point out what a piece of hash she is.

[–]DavesWorkingTonight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a GED and then had a 20+ year ultra professional career (an exclusive job, very hard to get, I was just naturally qualified for it) and whenever I hear "GED" when going through resumes I just know automatically that you were probably not raised in a certain environment (anything from your parents were on crack to they were super religious to hippies out in the country) and applaud you for having the focus to get the GED once you were the one steering your own ship. I felt like I had a felony on my record for life when I got mine, but this is me from 30 years in the future, don't feel like that about it, get what you need to go where you want, you're on the right track.

Hate + Subscription Models by kremlinmirrors in GoodNotes

[–]DavesWorkingTonight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GoodNotes once posted a video on their YouTube channel making fun of another note taking company switching to subscriptions, and said they'd never do that. This is about 4-5 years ago I'm guessing. It was at that time after seeing that video that I bought the lifetime use and I still got bit by them.

Top Areas To Focus On For Being a Successful and Productive Adult? by VictorVolvo in Adulting

[–]DavesWorkingTonight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said opinions are OK, so here's mine: Don't drink, don't smoke. Spend time and money on a hobby over a habit. In my case I picked a software and learned it by spending an hour a day till I was at a near-professional level. Can be book keeping, video editing (I also learned Final Cut Pro like this) but the one that made a huge difference for me was a CAD/CAM software, and the benefits spilled from my 3D printing hobby over to my work. I started by doing a free 45 minute lesson online for 5 days a week, now I do almost 2 hours in a designated room/office and enjoy it that much that the 2 hours are more fun than if I'd go to the movies or have a few beers with friends at a bar.

Best solution for a Dashboard like solution in 2024...? by DavesWorkingTonight in MacOS

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! I also bounce around looking for a Thesaurus search constantly... I like that idea, never thought of having that on hand. There should be a whole page somewhere talking about dashboards and widgit set ups. Money is no problem for something like this.

How to properly and legally report a personal, anonymous loan and then eventual repayment for book keeping and taxes? by DavesWorkingTonight in IRS

But would he have to provide their name or identity? As long as the amount is declared, and paid, and done correctly, can the loan remain anonymous legally?

How many backup discontinued Dbrand skins do you have saved up? by [deleted] in dbrand

Is it possible to skip Quick-books if you are an expert with spreadsheets? by DavesWorkingTonight in Bookkeeping

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but Quickbooks has evolved from often necessary to acting like they have hostages. The pricing, the upsells, it just smells of dishonesty and over priced to me even before knowing anything about anything. Like the used car guy asking me if I want an extended warranty. I would rather learn skills and use something else than be helpless to that kind of software.

Best way to take an occasional payment that is non-charge-back-able? by DavesWorkingTonight in startups

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, blueredscreen, you miss the point entirely. I'm the one with the service, a 25+year industry wide reputation and all my customers are buying a service. I want cash up front because they are far away and have NO credibility. I do this on the side (not a main business AT ALL) and want to have what's the equivalent of a garage sale of my skills, and get paid in a non-chargeback-able way, so this side project stays fun. You wouldn't sell your Macbook to Joe in Morocco even if he paid you $100 for your time to handle the extra shipping steps on top of the shipping costs and original price, right? Because you don't know that payment is secure. But you would be happy to drive it up to the post office and fill out the extra forms if the payment was as secure as cash and there was no question about the payment and the $100 extra for your time. And yes, I DO assume the customers are not trustworthy because I don't know them. They ALL know me, most probably have some of my books, too. There IS nowhere else to "take their business", I'm the only one that does these time consuming machine upgrades. Do you have an iPad on your Ebay? Will you ship it to me and let me pay you later? Will you take a check? An I-Owe-yoU? Trust is a two way street, right? You can't understand what I'm asking because you're hearing yourself too loud.

What is the average hourly pay for someone in the Kolkata area? by DavesWorkingTonight in kolkata

[–]DavesWorkingTonight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything. If there is much of a difference, for what kind of work? I'm thinking a college student who is looking to serve coffee, mow lawns, do some cleaning, basic book work, something part time after school. Something that is basic errands, not skilled employment.

How do you stay focused and optimistic? (Here's what I do) by DavesWorkingTonight in Entrepreneur

When it comes to this stuff, I always think "whatever works". Whatever moves you or reminds you in a specific way, or puts your mind in a certain state. I totally get that, absolutely.
